Finally put the Prowler together and used it. Didn’t get the flu, but HOLY SHIT! My legs are dead.
I did 4 suicides at 10m then 20m. Then I did 2, 30m pushes. I only put weight on the first and last push (25 a side). It was tough enough unweighted for now.
After the sprints, I did two last Prowler pushes on the field to see how it felt compared to pushing it in the parking lot. I think I prefer the grass.

I hit the smaller tire with the 8 lb sledge today for a bit. I also did it wearing my X-Vest with 20 lbs in it. I couldn’t do it for very long before I was wiped. Maybe 6-8 minutes tops.
Then, I did some messing around with the slosh pipe. Carried it around zercher-style, held it overhead, tried to squat and lunge with it. Fun stuff. This will make for a good finisher.
Lastly, I also pushed my CR-V around. I found a spot in my garage where if I park it just right, I can push it for a few feet and then it hits a lip in the concrete that I can’t push it over (yet) and the car comes back to you. I did that a few times before I was tired. Just another fun thing to add to my routine.
Now I’m going to do some SMR and yoga and call it a day.
Your day sounds pretty fun. I am liking more of the stuff that is done outside also.
I am a bit envious of you getting to sledgehammer a tire.
How are you liking your leg presses at 100 reps? What is the difference you feel from doing so many reps as opposed to when you do the higher weight, fewer reps?
I read your first post. I would just like to say I’ve been through a lot of injuries myself, in 2007 I suffered a one year back injury, and like you, lost a LOT of strength over this time. I’ve been able to work up to previous levels, and even increase the strength to reach an all time high. I believe you can too! With patience, you surely will get there. What’s good about the injuries is that you learn to appreciate the ability to work out even more. You don’t take it for granted anymore. I am happy everything works out nicely these days, and just keep doing that extra stuff you need to do to keep in shape, ie. Foam rolling etc. Like you I didn’t start training seriously with weights until my early 20s. (31 now).

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the log. I appreciate the time you took to read that marathon first post of mine.
Things are feeling a lot better these days. I feel like I’m just about to start hitting some PRs again. I just need to keep up with the maintenance.

Yeah, it’s a lot of fun. The sledgehammer really hit my forearms a lot more than I was expecting. You really only need to do it for a few minutes to feel like you worked.
I like the 100 rep sets. The burn is pretty intense, but I love the pump I get from it. I’m going to keep at it for a few more weeks and see if this something I’m going to keep in the workout or just bring back from time to time. I suppose to keep in the higher rep ranges, but change things up, I could always drop the 100 rep set and add another set or 50 or something like that.

It’s probably because the proweler got you to use your ass better.

PROWLER!!! Awesome man, glad you got it put together and getting after it. Should make for some interesting workouts.
Well, looks like the Lakers put a beatdown on the Magic, congrats to them (even though you were going for the Magic, I think). Kobe and Co just too much. I heard about the riots going on in LA. They sure know how to celebrate haha.

Yeah, the Prowler is definitely a beast. I’m going to have a lot of fun with all of this stuff. The only thing that’s likely to be a hassle is the larger tire. I’ll need a buddy with a truck to move it around if we have problems using it by my house. The Prowler and slosh pipe are easy enough to load up in the CR-V and take to the track.
Yeah, I was rooting for Orlando, but congrats to the Lakers. Even though the Lakers won in 5, it’s funny how just a few small things and we’re looking at a different series. Dwight Howard makes a few more free throws in Game 4 and they win that one. Lee makes that layup in Game 2 and suddenly it’s 3-2 in Orlando’s favor. This is good experience for a fairly young team though. If Nelson can stay healthy next year, I think they might be the team to beat in the East. Howard needs to work on his free throws and develop a better go to move in the post.
You’re really stocking up on the gear and implements, Vader. Great stuff. A friend of mine can weld stuff, so I will probably follow suit with a homemade prowler soon.
Quick question- what were some of your previous big time PRs? I’m just curious to see how close you are to new ground.
