Retaining Water With Creatine

hey guys, i did a pretty comprehensive search and couldn’t find anything on this particular topic, apologies if it has already been covered.

what i’m wondering is while supplementing with creatine how long do you retain water after you finish taking it? also what is the typical amount of water retention in terms of scale weight? 2lbs 3lbs? i weigh 170 at 12%bf and i drink around 3 gallons of water a day so i am curoius as to what the normal retention is.

I never got bloated from creatine. Monohydrate is my favorite form too.

Me too I bloat on creatine and I’ve tried many brands and concoctions. I bloat less from testosterone enanthate. Ha! True though.

I get a tripple chin after just five days of using creatine. Also I have to take a piss every hour on the hour. I lose strength and do fewer reps. I can’t for the love of God understand why anyone would use creatine unless it’s something psychological to look swole and big.

I must be that one percent bad responder and yes we do exist and no I did really want it to work. It might work for others but for me nothing but bad effects from using it.

When I tried to put less each time with just the training shake the only thing that happened was that the buildup took longer time (2 weeks) but with the same devastating effects. Massive bloat.

I take pure monohydrate powder now at 5g a day, and I don’t really notice any bloating, but my muscles feel rounder and I can pump out more reps.

same here. The first time I took creatine I gained twenty pounds in three days. I don’t take it anymore. It doesn’t do anything for me, except cause extreme fluid retention.

Wow… I didn’t know that was possible. I’d heard that some people didn’t get any effect from it, but never heard of negative effects on performance.

I respond extremely well to creatine - there’s a little water weight, but my strength increases quite a bit, and my joints feel better while on it.

The water is usually gone within a week after I stop taking it.
