Rest Times During Meets?

Hello,

Since I have to run a mock meet I was wondering what the average time between lifters were for a given lift.

I.e
Time between first attempt and second attempt

Then time between squat and the bench?

Are you running a meet with other people or just yourself ?

From what I have seen at a meet all the squat gets done before the bench and then the deadlift. Usually each class goes one after the other with women first and usually light to heavy.

So how long between attempts is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question. If there are 10 people in your weight class could be 10 mins between attempts.

could be a 1 to 2 hours between squat and bench if it is a big meet.

Just for myself

That’s a bit different, if it was me I would just go when I was ready but I wouldn’t rush. 6-8 min between squat attempts. Warm up for bench after squat, 5-7 mins between bench attempts. Maybe 90 mins to get the whole thing done.

Okay I like that Idea. Maybe even have a 20 minute break in between exercises to get some light snacks in.

I am not understanding…you are a doing a mock meet for yourself, can you explain

For the actual meets I’ve done, I am always recovered between attempts. I’d say a solid 10 minutes is typical (but all the meets I’ve done have been full, a meet that only half full may be faster?).

Yes, so the original meet I planned on dokng was pulled because the gym was having problems all year. Sonthey stripped them of there ability to hold meets.

So that changes my multi year training so I have to run a mock meet sooner so I can adjust

Ok, but are you planning on competing in any meets in the future?

the reason i ask is why wait 20 minutes…5 to 10 minutes should be plenty of rest time, unless i am missing something, if i am i apologize

Yeah, i plan on doing meets in the future. Just want to try and keep ot as close as possible to a meet

Makes sense then, lol

I’d just take whatever time you need between attempts to recover (but at least 5-7 minutes) and then a short break between movements. I’ve had meets where my entire meet finished in less than 2.5 hours and then others where it dragged on for 9-10. The point being that they’re all over the place in terms of how long they last so just do what feels comfortable for your mock meet. It will be close enough.
