I think you’ve got it. Kind of like the definition of diplomacy:
“Diplomacy is telling someone to go to hell and having them ask you for directions.”
Henry Kissinger may have said this although I’m not certain.

Remember that from a poster in my 9th grade english class back in south africa, always thought it was rather funny.

And from way back in the thread, I’m struggling but I can’t think of a suitable response for “rapist’s wit”. So I guess I’ll stop describing my wit as “rapier”. At least I have a wit. Some other people say they do but they’re only half-right.

Rapists wit. I may be wrong here, but if you’re applying for a job as a writer and your application shows lack of command for the English language, that pretty much puts you out of the running.
One of my favorite misquotes is when people say “for all intensive purposes.”
