I don’t know what to say. Shit sucks.

Just saw this news on IG. So sad.

Hardly a week went by during this whole COVID pandemic when I wasn’t listening to one of his podcasts - sometimes for training advice, but mostly just to hear him talk about life, friendship, meeting challenges and chasing down goals. Brutal.

Needs its own thread (@Chris_Colucci)

RIP John, terrible news. Great battler in this industry who informed thousands of us on how to do and be better.

Saw this today too. Truly a great coach and dude who helped countless people through all his free, awesome content.

It sucks too because I think at least 5 of his athletes are now Olympia qualified.

I figured out how to really hit my lats because of him, one of the best out there gone too soon.

Same here. His advice on angles and driving the elbow first is priceless.
Also felt my rear delts truly pump up for the first time following some of his workouts.

One of the few YouTube channels I truly looked forward to new content from.

John was the real deal when it came to training.

Yep, I don’t consume much fitness content but his was always a favorite.

I’m reading he had some kids, I know he has a website with some supps/programs for sale but if anyone sees an opportunity to donate or buy a shirt or something, let me know. I’ve probably given him $.003 in YouTube revenue which feels unfair at this point

Get one of his programs if budget allows for it now or in the future. Yeah, they’re expensive and I know lots of people are cash strapped at the moment but I’d never recommend this for anyone else even if they cost 1/10 of the price.

The man was legit. You could read one of his programs and have your entire thought process changed from how to execute an exercise to how to train instinctively just by reading his instructions if you really read them.

He showed us that real bodybuilders who know their shit aren’t just randomly doing stuff in the gym while describing how they do it in simple terms which made sense to people who have never trained like this or are hung up on percentages and arbitrary sets and rep schemes because of Internetland.

You don’t just get a program. You get a mini-textbook on how to do this shit which you can adapt and apply easily to whatever else you’re doing after that.

This is just terribly sad in so many ways.

I bought three of his programs this year. Love them.

Terrible news. I watched him on YouTube, and have even seen some of his comments here. I feel terrible for his family. He truly seemed to love his kids, and gave them spot light on his channel.

I just popped on here to see if any information on John’s passing had come out. He was such a wealth of knowledge and a class act. Loved his training videos and seeing his little boys yo-yo tricks. Seemed like he was a great dad as well.

Rest In Peace mountain dog. You will be missed.:frowning:

Damn.
I interacted with him here like 10 years ago on the boards. Always answered me promptly and must have given tips to 100+ guys. Always positive and respectful, a total class act.

T Nation should do some kind of tribute.

Fuck - I saw new replies to this thread, re-read it and just expected another hospital visit. His poor kid, man. 49 is so fucking young.

Yep, awful. Think he had a couple of kids.

One of the people at my gym had a heart attack and died. Was barely 40, freaked me right out of thinking competing in the over 105s was a great thing.

For bodybuilding that’s considered “old age”. Though if I’m honest I didn’t expect this

very upset about it, may he rest in peace. He didn’t deserve this outcome; not with how careful he was relatively speaking comparative to other competitive bodybuilders.

I extend my condolences and sympathies to his family and friends… doesn’t really matter what I think or say though, I can’t change anything… no one can
