I was just wondering about the religions of the various T-men and women on this site. I;m not starting to start a flame war or anything. I know that religion is a definite cause for a lot of my motivation on the football field and in the weight room. I am myself a Baptist.
Religion is a business. Faith is for the believers.

Oh, Agnostic, that’s it. When God knocks on my door instead of sending boys in cheap suits I’ll believe he exists. So far nothing in my experience leads me to believe. I’m only 44, going on 45 soon. He’s got 50 more years or so to get around to it. No hurry.
Christian, no denomination. My family was in the military for quite some time. We had to find a good church each time we moved, and sometimes the best one was a different denomination.

I am Roman Catholic, but not a practicing one. I should be but I don’t. Here’s my take on religion some faithfuls might shoot me for saying this.
But, this is what I truelly believe in my on heart on what religion is.
Ponder this thought for a moment. Ever thought all religion might be the same. Just one is viewed a silght diffrent in the end. If you look at all religion they seem to centeralize that there is a GOD and in one there was a prophet whether you call him JESUS God’s one and only son or you call him Mohammad (a prophet) even Jews that Jesus was a preacher or some sort of prophet that spoke the word of God. Also, if you look at buddist they all talk about God’s word in one form or another. About Love and Forgivness.
So, choose the religion thats right for you. Just like you would choose your wife or husband. I think in the end all religion is how one inturpts it and its all about. Loving one another and forgiving those who wrongend you.

I gotta say that fishdog and I pretty much have the same answer… except for the whole army thing… but my dad (a pastor) moved around a bunch and spoke in many different denominations of church. so non-denominational christian.
No religion just me and my spirit.
Raised Roman Catholic (you know, the One True Faith–JUST KIDDING!), and didn’t feel scarred by it. Knew lots of priests and nuns growing up and in high school and even college who were decent people doing what they could to help others. Don’t practice now, except in the sense that you can’t turn off the influences of your youth, and I like to think that I am a decent enough person who does more to help than harm people around me.

I’m a born again Christian. I grew up going to church but it was really boring. I had a religious experience when I was 17 years old.
Just like the fellow on the board who might believe if God shows up on his doorstep. That’s a powerful request. When God shows up, your life changes.
I currently help out in a church and don’t consider myself as a certain denomination. What I’ve learned over the years is that the reason many people are agnostic or atheists has to do with an anger towards God or the Church. HOwever, many try to make it an intellectual/philosophical issue. In my opinion it’s an anger issue.

comment. For me who was sent to a parochial school and was very much a
believer when I was younger, it had more to do with thinking more as I got older.
I believe since the cavemen walked out
out of their caves man has needed something to believe in. The unknown is to scary a thought for many, in my humble opinion.

Gnostic / Presbyterian. Although my fiancee is Episcopal, and has an Episcopal priest for a father, so I imagine I will soon be Episcopal. I think the differences between the mainstream Protestant churches are generally minutae.
I see the anger post got a few replies. Let me try to explain briefly how anger manifests itself.
When most people think of anger, the common image that comes to mind is a person flying off the handle. That’s one type.
Another type is the silent treatment that angry people give to the person they are angry towards.
Disappointment Anger is expecting to receive something and then not getting it.
Frustration Anger (which many of us experience when we train) is trying to do something and not being able to.
Hurt Anger involves anger that is directed towards another person. For example, a person does a good job but instead of receiving praise they receive rejection.
Obviously, anger is a lot more complex than this but these 3 types help people get a handle on it. Here is a case in point.
A person who is an agnostic talked with me. He talked about all his beliefs. I listened because I wanted to learn more. The conversation went on quite a while. In the end it came back to his father. His father died at a young age and he was angry at God about it. He has a right to be angry and still his anger keeps him from God. I have some more examples but I don’t want to turn this into a book.
If you don’t agree that’s fine, this is just one man’s opinion.

Having just watched the movie, I am suddenly reminded of a brilliantly written scene from Robinson Crusoe (what?! They made a book out of that?
Our hero introduces a heathen to the Christian God, only to be confronted by the fact that the heathen already has a God. The heathen draws an alligator in the sand indicating that this is his God and states “now you show me your God”. Crusoe replies that he can’t because the Christian God is everywhere. “But I show you MY God, now you show me yours!” states the heathen. In frustration, Crusoe then hands the heathen a Bible says that this is God. The heathen inverts the book, shakes the pages waiting for the Christian God to fall out. “I still don’t see your God…”.
Poignant AND funny.
I must have laughed for 10 minutes. I still have no idea how they got away with that in the 1700’s, but it’s a Classic scene.
Cradle Catholic and lovin’ it. A truly great, family based religion. Also a very spiritual religion.
Just to note; this Catholic respects everyone’s right to believe what they wish. And,… I hope that nobody uses this forum to bash another person’s faith.

Born-again Southern Baptist (it took me 35 years). If you sincerely look for God you will find him. If you are waiting on him to knock on your door, consider this to be a knock. I believe there is but one God and one Son and the only way to heaven is through Him (Jesus) as the Bible states in John 14:6.
