Quote:" its a pretty big statement for someone to say(or infer…) that christians need to stop pushing there believes on others… it works both ways… and humanists are pushing way harder then any christians i know…"
All I can say is thankfully we no longer have to hear bible stories in school, or recite the lords prayer.
If you people don’t want to live the humanist way of life its simple" don’t watch secular television programing, watch your religious programing, go to your church, send your kids to christian schools, have them meet other christian friends, wait untill you marry to have sex. With the freedom that we share today it is perfectly easy to do all this without having to complain that you are having secular humanism shoved down your throats. No one is forcing you to stop being a Christian, Muslim, Siek, Jew, or from practicing Buddism or Hinduism. You are free to believe and practice your beliefs the way you see fit-(providing you are no Aztecs and perform ritual human sacrifices of course). If you are complaining that there are too many temtations in this world that the secular/humanist society throws your way, I say suck it up, you chose your beliefs and if they mean that you have to go through life resisting the “sins of the flesh” well its your boat. This is a capitalistic society we live in which thrives on marketing but also on freedom. Would you rather live in a communist society? or say in the society of the middle ages where if you didn’t belong to the catholic church you were ostrasized from society?

besides, lets compare the number of wars and deaths caused by people other then christians(or, lets say atheists) compared to the number that were started by christians… there is no comparision. the greastest war in history(WW2) was started by an atheist…
Hmmm lets see… was Hitler really an athiest? maybe. Did he start the war because he thought that we all should be athiest? hell no, he was a raving looney bin who believed that he was the next Caesar, or Napoleon and that he and the German people were the superior race and were destined to rule the world. It had nothing to do with wiping out Christianity… It was revenge from world war one where the German people had been defeated and humiliated - restricted from having any army or means of defences.
Here however is a list of just some of the wars from the top of my head caused by religion:
The Crusades - you christians proud of yourselves?
More Crusades- How do you feel about that - rape, plunder, and murder in the name of Jesus?
The Spanish/ Jewish inquisition - you think hitler killed lots of Jews? well you Christians sure did your part!
How about how you Christians conquered “the New World” - more rape, murder, plunder, killing of woman and children all for the sake of converting them to christ.
How about other more modern religious wars like: Afganistan, The war in Bosnia? The Isralie wars? -all caused because of differences in religion.
What about say for example the residential schools in Canada were native children were taken by force from their parents, placed in these schools run be different denominational church clergyman, and forced to learn western religion and culture, and punished if they spoke in their native tongues, all the while they were being sexually assaulted by these “men of god”
How about the Catholic Boy’s schools?
need I continue, because I am sure if I opened up the history books I would find many more wars and many more killings all on account of religious differences. And that is my whole point. I am not attacking Christianity or any other religion. I am just saying that people weather they are christians, jews, muslims, athiests, e.t.c. need to keep their views amoungst their own groups and respect the beliefs of others. If there is a God, lets just ask ourselves this: would he think that say Jehovah witnesses were the only “true believers” in him (hypothetically) and that all others who worshiped in other denominations and religions were worshiping to no god in particular at all or maybe actually were worshiping the devil, therefore he would dam everyone else to hell who wasn’t a jehovah witness or maybe a “born again Christian” - that’s just too hard to fathom. Maybe, what if there is a god and every form of religion and devotion/ worship that people do on this planet is acceptable to him, yet we are killing each other and arguing with each other that our way is the best way and the only way and if you don’t switch to our way, we must kill you! wouldn’t that just be such a tragedy?!
