People who dont ride motorcycles think that people who ride motorcycles all do wheelies at 100 mph on the freeway. I do this all the time and I really need to stop that not the motorcycle thing, but lumping subsets of people into one pool.
Jesus did not come here to separate the church, but to bring all people to him. I think he is really angry with the church as a whole. We are all human, and when humans try to take control we screw it up. Christians need to understand that they are not perfect and some people do not believe in the Bible and jaming it down their throat is not acceptable. Non Christians need to understand that Christians have certain beliefs and there is no law that will force them to not continue to believe those things. Christians through out history had died for their beliefs. [/quote]
Well, come join the Catholic Church, the first wife of our Lord.
When I speak on Protestants I do generalize because as the Catholic Church you can very easily see what we believe, with the Protestants you have to specifically say which denomination, sub sec of that denomination, then state what side of the doctrine you are talking about. I thought the Catholic Church had a lot of doctrine, but the Protestant churches have more doctrine than I can think of, and some churches (like a youth leader I know) they have their doctrine completely oral. Then you have some Protestants that believe just the Bible, Jesus, and me is all they need. So, I gave up pretty quick on trying to understand the different denominations of the Protestant religion and try to focus on the commonalities of the Protestant religion.

And your average Protestant looks at all of the idolatry, greed and hypocrisy in the Catholic Church and gives up on trying to understand them.

Oh sure. I try to clear up their misconceptions, when asked.

Not many Catholics are as well versed or smart as you Sloth. I would like to say that Christmas and Easter Catholics really should not talk about the Catholic Church. The same thing goes to Protestants that only go to church on Christmas and Easter.
There really is not a lot of differences between the Catholic Church and the Protestant Denominations other than interpretation of the Bible. We all believe the Apostles Creed.

The Eastern Orthodox Church might disagree that the Catholic Church was first.

Funnily enough I was going to post exactly the same thing.
