High IQ in child hood does not = high IQ in adult hood. Your IQ is usually calculated in relation to your peers. So while your IQ compared to others may have been high at 12 years old if adjusted against older populations it may be average or below average.

Is it really a surprise that the more you put into them the better they end up. I recently had a conversation where I told my GF of five years that I wanted our children to go to private school. She scoffed at the idea and said she wasn’t going to pay for that.
While she didn’t go to private school she did grow up in a neighbourhood where all the homes are around the low 7 figure mark and the public school she went to is arguably one of the best in the country, probably puts a lot of private schools to shame. Is this true? Most sources I’ve read says it doesn’t matter what age the person is tested as long as it’s above as certain age which I can’t remember. This would be even further evidence that IQ tests are unreliable since someone older would have more experience and education.

But to be perfectly honest I am not the most versed in the subject. Actually any subject. But I did take a cognitive psychology course in my undergrad haha.

IQ’s measured in childhood are funny things and I am not sure if they mean much. Perhaps someone else knows more and could chime in.
But the way I look at it is some kids mature cognitively very fast. So they can have that IQ of 145 at 8 years of age but only be intellectually on a 5th grade level. Perhaps that trend of superior intelligence will continue into adult hood if they are motivated and provided appropriate stimulation.
I went to a school with special program for gifted children. I was not in the program but I do recall many of those kids being very bright. And several brought up having high IQ’s.
Some went onto special high school programs across the country for various things. A couple I know ended up at Harvard. But several of them also ended up at my high school. Being average students in their teen years and even going to a local two year college or not pursuing any post secondary education.
So I am always amused when someone brings up their IQ from their childhood. Like what are you trying to say.
I’m not into this IQ thing anyway and as for education, I know lots of high ranking morons in public service with good educations from Ivy League schools that I wouldn’t even employ. These guys are the type of super hardworking people who score good grades through rote learning while I need real problem solvers, which I’ve seen them completely fail at. Perhaps this is IQ but I can just test a candidate’s problem solving abilities with real world questions in my line of work instead of giving them an IQ test so a number like this is meaningless to me.
Also, I’ve seen first hand what happens to legit high IQ people who tested in their late teens who can’t handle stress at the time when their IQ was supposed to be utilized. They turned into clueless idiots. Over here, everyone who enters the military has to take an IQ test. One dude posted to a department that requires really way above average IQ couldn’t even find a location on a map covering a range of around 30km in diameter when given the exact coordinates and a compass that also acts somewhat like a protractor because he was too stressed from being placed in a leadership position during a training course. This was something the average 14 year old boy scout could do.

Granted if my son winds up having ordinary ability, I would not try to push high-aptitude fields on him. Trying to push some man who is suited for simple manual activity into brainy activity is cruel and silly, just as it would be silly to push into it an intelligent guy who hates being lectured all day in a classroom and not using his hands.
I have no idea what context these people were using when they said this but what I did was expose my youngest to certain degeneracy such as the dirtiest, sleaziest sex clubs I could find so he would be turned off by both the environments and the kind of girls these places allow to freelance there. And there’s some truth to the “stereotypical Catholic schoolgirl” IME. Not where I was living then. These girls just didn;t know how to fit in and they wanted male attention but didn’t understand how to get it without offering something of a sexual nature from what I kinda deduced from talking to some of them. Chick was purposfully lying on my thigh while we were just having a normal conversation, which I’m assuming was her way of retaining my attention. Probably socialization issues from a young age or the complete lack of openness about sex from parents? I don’t know.
Again, where I lived, these families were RESPECTED, not ridiculed. It’s their KIDS who ended up with issues fitting in with thier peers. Differnent societies, same outcomes in the country i moved to.
