Relationship between our body and food

I think this is a good point and one we see often. Someone will get advice, but then say “but I heard a different way works.” It does. They’re both routes. But you can’t drive the east bypass and the west bypass at the same time (or a little of each) and get where you’re headed.

For the record I am not a bodybuilder and don’t care about having 3% bodyfat. If I’m sub 15% with occasional dips lower to 10-12% in the summer I’m happy.

I don’t have to worry about perfectly timed insulin manipulation, balancing ketosis around a specific schedule et cetera so keeping it simple works for me.

A basic handle on caloric intake can keep you strong and give you the runway to lean out enough to look great during pool season.

I fall in to the if it fits your macros camp. I would say the 80/20 rule applies to food quality for me. 80% of the time I am eating clean with a bend towards high protein, but 20% of the time I’ll eat terrible food. I’m a big TexMex fan which is probably the most unhealthy food on the planet.

I measure weekly vs daily. If I blow up a day I tighten up another, or spread deeper restrictions across two if necessary. This keeps me from being obsessive compulsive and gives me a bigger landing pad to hit than trying to be on point every day.

It works for me and lets me not give up my favorite foods.

I feel like I’m talking dirty and could potentially charge an audience to listen every time I request fajita beef instead of picadillo in a chimichanga and add both queso and chili con carne on top.

Maybe I’ll start an OnlyFans.

There is a weird corner of the internet where people will pay to watch other people eat, so why not monitize your pwo chimachanga sessions? Everybody wins!

Fair point. Cajun is a top three for me but to be fair you can find some decently healthy dishes. I do love me some fried boudain balls though.

I’d argue that carne asada and braised pork, no tortillas on salad with pickled onions and jalapeños, could also be healthy

This is true. But genuine “TexMex” would be braised and then smothered in some sort of high fat sauce or cheese, cream on top of that and served with rice cooked in oil plus refried beans with more lard than one would imagine.

Baja style Mexican can be made healthy for sure.

I also feel like editing out the TexMex ingredients and leaving a shell of the dish would eliminate the pornographic factor :wink:

I have yet to see a restaurant in Louisiana that doesn’t add a stick of butter or fry everything. They took the worst parts of French cooking and ran with it.

Even their “bbq shrimp” is basically shrimp boiled in butter with spices and flour

A dish I still think about from El Arroyo in Austin was some sort of white fish with Mexican rice and beans. I’d dump copious amounts of pico and salsa on it and it felt pretty healthy. It was delicious. Of course, so are their enchiladas (covered in pico and salsa) but you can eat reasonably well at Mexican and it still be yummy AF.
