Hi guys I have a bit of a long winded one so here goes.
When my Dad was alot younger he was involved in a traffic collision which due to the impact partially straightened his lumbar curve. The choice was to have surgery to un-straighten it where there would be a high percentage that he would end up in a wheelchair or opt not to and tolerate any pain that would be incurred. He has been to countless chiro’s and physio’s and you name it since but to no real avail. He has dealt with alot of Sciatic nerve pain and general lower back pain over the years.
Anyway he has reduced alot of the pain to the point where he no longer needs percription painkillers and he has approached me recently about what could be done to strengthen the area through the use of freeweights.
Im trying to wrap my head around exercises and mobilty work that could be done to strengthen the lower back and core musculature to keep it more resitant should he get a knock or if he twists it and to try and prevent it flare up again and also to improve flexibility around the area.
So I thought I would fire this post out before I had him do anything crazy.I understand it is a pretty unique injury and situation but Im hoping that someone has a bit of experience of this.
Any and all comments welcome.
