Recent Progress

Wasn’t sure where to post. I’ve been lurking around here for some time.

I finally got back into lifting in January after quite a long break (4 years). I actually had trained for the detroit marathon last year, rode the baja1000 and lost some weight and definitely screwed my body up by doing that much steady state cardio.

ANYHOW. Lifted for a few months, used my remainig MAG-10 (one bottle) to get myself back to where I was a while ago. Following the MAG-10 plan for success and massive eating diet. Legs have always been weak so I’m focusing on them.

I just wanted to post some #'s and see where I’m at. I’m not ready for before and after pics yet, but they’ll be coming in summer. Figure 6 months is required to see real progress.

I’m currently 180 lbs approx 10-15% bf. 5’10"
I have no max numbers yet, only reps
Squatting 250 for 5 reps x 3 sets
Deadlift 250 for 5 reps x 3 sets
Bench 205 for 5 reps x 3 sets

My longterm goal is to end up at 185 but much more cut. I am gaining strength and my weight is staying the same. I ride motocross quite a bit so being any bigger than that isn’t very effective. Actually 185 at 5’10" is huge for a moto guy.

sample diet

morning - myoplex shake w/ yogurt and oatmeal (sometimes flax seed oil)

snack - 3 oz peanuts

lunch - chicken & veggies

snack - cottage cheese & yogurt

workout - Surge

dinner - some sort of meat and veggies

pre night - protein shake

I’m trying different routines in the gym everytime I seem to stop making gains and that’s been working.

Any comments (especially on the diet) would be helpful. I know I may be lacking fat in the diet, I’ve got to get some pills/capsules for work. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Given that you don’t want to increase weight, adding fat without making any other changes would be a bad idea. Adding fat but cutting back on the carbs may be a good idea. Not clear from what you set out in your post how high your carbs are.

If your veggies include a lot of starchy veg like potato, and the protein shake has a lot of milk in it, they could be a bit high. I would add some fish oil caps, cut a bit of starchy veg and use diluted cream instead of milk with the protein shake.

Just my opinion. If you really want to burn the fat, go for the Anabolic Diet. Again, just my opinion.
