Still feel poverty with my calories, and having lost 1.5kg in slightly under two weeks, I’m probably too low. But I will wait the full two weeks before evaluating, as I understand water retention and such is likely behind most of it.
DB Step-ups to a high box totally kill me haha. Intending to do 5 x 10 but not happening yet.

Still got this nagging pain under my rights on the right. It’s not all day, just comes and goes. Only hurts when I breathe in. It’s been a week now, just hoping it’s nothing to do with the hernia mesh ha.

That was happening to me a couple days ago. The pain was on the side of my rib cage. It felt like something had popped out of place. If I kind of stretched the area a little bit and moved the muscles and connective tissue around it went away for a while.

No idea the cause, but mine only lasted a day.

Given the new mesh in your abdomen you should definitely be cautious.

Cheers, I’ll do some stretching tonight and see if I can pop it back into a happy place. And yeah, I have this horrible feeling I’ll probably have mesh issues before too long haha.

I do need to sleep more. I’m not suffering insomnia any longer, but I tend to sleep 12 - 5:30 / 6:00… which isn’t really sufficient.

BW: 88.9, pretty much on target. Tuesday is my weigh-in day, and I’m trying to average .5kg down per week.

Good going dude I’m glad to see you decieded to keep lifting. Keep us posted on your progress. I’ll be following. Has that pain under your ribs gone away yet?

You’re doing great man! It’s easy to lose perspective but sets of 10 on chins and weighted dips is actually very impressive, especially as a taller guy, regardless of your illness. I really wish you all the best, you’re genuinely one of the most inspirational people I’ve come across. You’re attitude is outstanding, keep going chief.

Thanks guys :-).

I didn’t get a chance to update my log but I completed Week 2 and got halfway through Week 3, then the pain became too much. It spread to my kidneys and became unbearable, forcing me off work and lifting.

Anyway I think it was two things:
1 - surgical pain, probably putting in too much work too soon.
2 - I started taking creatine just before the kidney pains started. In retrospect I should have checked with my surgeon before taking it, as I suffered kidey failure during chemotherapy. Turns out my reduced anatomy (and thus reduced hydration ability) couldn’t tolerate the water draw of creatine, resulting in severe dehydration and sickness.

The front pain below my ribs has not vanished, but it’s reduced in intensity. They did ultrasounds and blood tests, and saw nothing alarming. If it’s still there in a couple of weeks I’ll demand a CT. But I’m sure it’s simply surgery-related.

Sometimes it feels like every time I try to get somewhere, I get pushed back down. But I know eventually I’ll get past all these glitches and be in a good and strong place. Just gotta persevere.

Back to the Now:
I’m away for work for 4 weeks, away from gym facilities. I brought some dumbbells with me, and until June 1st I’ll just be using these. Probably a sensible way of easing back without raising my pain levels too high.

Early June I’ll be home and back at the 5’s Progression again!! Can’t wait.
