For all the ladies who are saying there are men who exploit women for financial gain and or money problems I know exactly what you mean. My father is of this type and I hate him for it. I hate being related to a sneaky fat prick like him. He lacks the testicular fortitude to walk our frickin dog. He just got fired from his job and sits at home all day while my mom pays the mortgage, for my school, for groceries, and for all the utilities.
I’m not anti social by any means, but in general I hate people. Everyone seems like an idiot these days. Perhaps I am percieved as the same, but I hope not. After college I already have plans to move in with one of my oldest and yet still best friend who happens to be a girl. I don’t know where it would go from there, but she doesn’t waste money on designer clothes or any of the usual garbage associated with steriotypical women. She takes care of buisness first and doesn’t take bull$hit.
Just my two examples of exceptions to how most of the posters in this forum are leaning.
EDIT: Most of the people who have made it to this site I would not consider idiots. But there are a few. But alot of us still jump the gun and point to broad a finger without looking at it from all sides and taking note of exceptions.[/quote]
Kinda like RMP, squats and milk for a couple years and repost.

Amen!
This had me thinking that, due to generational differences, the days of marriages lasting 30-40 years are long gone.
If you make a promise (in US jurisdiction), and then don’t follow through on that promise, and that causes harm to the person to whom the promise was made, the person that made the promise is liable for that harm.
It’s called injurious reliance, and has very little to do with marriage, and a lot to do with US contract law.

NO.

Are you saying you agree with the lawsuit? I mean I know you’re a socialist bitch but are you seriously that fucked up?

In Canada, we don’t have injurious reliance, and a contract can’t exist without consideration.
It’s not an issue of agreeing with it or not, it’s an issue of law. In the US, she has a case. In Canada, she probably would not.
Stop being such a little bitch, please.

Not an issue? I asked you point-blank if you agreed with it or not. You can answer that or fuck off.

Or I can call you a little bitch. You know, for being a little bitch all the time.

You’re just sad because I called you a socialist bitch. Or because your boyfriend dumped you. But look on the bright side - you’re in canada and apparently he can’t sue you.

Hey, congrats! You learned something!
Good job!!!
Can you remember why he can’t sue me?
Hint: it has to do with something that rhymes with “schmonsideration”.

Because you made a big promise to him when you two were spooning so that’s cause to sue?
…No wait I’m still thinking of the U.S.
Well anyway I just discovered Reason #348 not to get married - it might be to a douche like you and you can’t even sue.

The right answer was “consideration”.
I’m sorry, that was my fault. I should have known you needed an easier hint.
Congrats on your discovery, though! Maybe you can write it on a piece of paper, and ask your mommy if you can put it on the fridge. Would you like that?

Which discovery about you are you congratulating me for: That you spooned with your boyfriend or that you’re a douche?

Close enough.
Hey, how do you suppose nate found out about that promise I made when we were spooning?

You really can find anything there - even by accident.
