Realistic TRT Recomp Progress

@bcostigan41
Even on daily it took quite a while for libido to get to where it is today. Probably like 4 months of I recall. Of course you may have a different experience in that regard.

Damn, I have to say I’ve never had the issue of maintaining an erection once I have it. For me, it’s just that the libido is always at a very low level, rarely reaching arousal. I know other guys who are dialed in – like Dex – feel ready to bone at any time; I feel the opposite, like the moment only strikes me when everything is exactly right.

How would you say you’ve been, in terms of that 0-10 scale, on ED – maybe a 7.5ish?

That’s very encouraging, considering where you’ve made it to now, brother.

Yeah, pretty shitty to lose a boner mid sex or mid blow. I’m older at 43, but still want to stop this nonsense…haha.

Since going ED:

  • first week: 8.5/10 - could feel the testosterone kick in every day like I did on EOD. Libido was great. Sex 3 time in first 5 days. Well being and energy great.

  • week 2: 7/10 - feeling if testosterone kicking in daily slowly going away. Libido waining, sex once. Well being and energy a bit lower.

  • week 3: 6/10 - lost that feeling of testosterone kicking in 12-16 hours post shot, but sense something is there. Libido same as week 2, no sex this week. Well being and energy a bit lower, but in par with week 2.

I think of it like this - It’s as if what I built up over the year with EOD shots overlapped with starting daily and that gave me a bump and I was awesome… But now my previously accumulated half lives (for lack of better words) are dwindling and being slowly replaced with my new daily reserves I’m adding.

I imagine there will be a crossover point where all those 42mg’s EOD are gone and replaced with those 22mg’s ED… Hence the 8 weeks. Silly way to explain it, but that’s how I’m thinking about it.

What do you mean when you say everything has to be exactly right for your libido to ramp up into go time?

Man, that sounds miserable. Completely understand why an experience like that would prompt you to get things straightened out.

It sounds like our experiences from weeks 1-3 are very similar. I don’t think I had a ā€œbuildupā€ given my dosing, though – maybe it was just the placebo of knowing I was getting more T, and more regularly. Probably all in my head  You may well have had that buildup.

I will say, yesterday was the first day in a long time where I felt I had that distinct Alpha Edge – that unstoppable feeling. I didn’t have crazy sex drive (though did eventually have sex), but just felt like I could accomplish anything I wanted and any woman would want me. I had that consistently over the summer. Such an amazing feeling.

I have a feeling we’re both well on our way to being dialed in; just gotta give it some time.

I just mean that I have to be in a low-stress environment, right time (end of day), right setting (after bonding with wife through something like a good conversation), etc. – whereas other guys are just ready to go at any time, regardless of the circumstances.

I would almost have to argue here that the ā€œother guysā€ you referenced in this context would almost absolutely have to be selfish pricks.

I don’t care how well in tune your hormones are, if a man can get hard and go at ANY time under ANY circumstances, then that tells me that that that man has the uncanny ability to not feel anything for anyone or anything else around him other than himself, and whatever desire or fantasy that he has in he is head at the time.

I guess I exaggerated by saying ā€œany timeā€ – I should’ve said ā€œnormally.ā€ I think it’s possible to be horny on a pretty constant basis without being a selfish prick (i.e., you’re still able to empathize).

Agreed…

An observation: physical changes are obviously most apparent (at least in short time frames) in the upper body, and I’ve seen great progress since starting TRT in that regard. But when it comes to strength, I’ve seen way bigger changes in my lower body. My deadlift and squat numbers have gone up practically every workout, whereas bench and OHP have taken significantly longer to progress.

How would one know if they are a sociopath? Asking for a friend

Lmao!!!

@bkb333 @NH_Watts

Closing on Tuesday morning!! This house hunting / buying journey (and extremely freaking heavy monkey hanging on my back!!) is almost OVER!! Lol

Another couple of weeks to get moved and settled, then it’s back to straight IRON and strict eating!! I can’t wait man…I really can’t…

Be watching in the next couple of weeks. I’ll start a new training log with before pics to see how quick I can get back to where I was a couple of months ago before this whole thing got me derailed… I’m going to be shooting for a new record in recomp! LOL

That move-in will be the start of your new workout program, brother – some heavy lifting involved for sure! I bet this time away will give you newfound vigor to attack the iron…but I completely understand how you must be DYING to get back to it.

Definitely keep us posted on your progress. Be sure to try looking extra fat in your before pics so the epic transformation that is about to unfold looks as profound as possible, lmao. You have the knowledge to pull it off quickly.

What’s your general idea of the type of programming/plan you’ll follow?

Bahaha.

Just started season 8

Calories to maintenance (around 2600cals) 40/30/30 — I will create the deficit through increased activity…

Workouts will be the routine I posted for you a while back (the Dorian Yates modified), but the loading will be 60%-65% 1RM, with a 3 normal / 3 super slow rep cadence repeated to failure for each set.

Also, will be doing every day cardio for either 10 min HIIT or 30 min SS, depending on timing in the mornings… May even throw in a second cardio session 3 days a week in the evening just to top it off…

My plan is to run this for 6 weeks…

You at the end of those 6 weeks… 6fe74d2028428e11cb4f2775f416644b

Is that 40 protein or carbs? If the former, that’s probably quite a bit, right – 250g? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Shit brother, I don’t know if I have enough time in a 6 week stretch to be a 320lb black guy at the end of this!! LMAO!!! (I LOVE RC btw!!) Dude is a straight up BEAST!!

And yes – 40 protein. Gotta keep the intake protein high to make sure that muscle mass doesn’t suffer from the deficit…

Poor Ronnie…honestly makes me sad every time I think about him. But he’ll forever be a champion. And it’s not like he feels sorry for himself, so I guess I shouldn’t either.

I’m completely onboard with you. The more research I do, the more I realize the necessity of protein for body comp…and that there’s no risk in overeating it. I shoot for 200-220g every day but never get fewer than 1g/lb BW.

Especially in a deficit brother for sure… Not to mention, there’s a huge thermogenic benefit from the digestion of higher protein diets…

Congrats man, that is huge.
