I decided to look through weight logs today. Through 10 months on TRT, I’ve put on about 8 lbs of muscle, or a little less than 1 pound per month. It’s not an extraordinary rate – roughly 10 lbs per year – but I have been lifting for 9 years at this point, so it’s something! I’m sure others have put on more lean mass in their first year on TRT.
crush it up and divide it into three and take it that way. keep it consistent. biting off wont be consistent
thats actually a big change in 1 year for an experienced lifter. big time!
Thanks, brother! I know you’ve been making great body comp progress as well. Have you checked in lately on how much muscle you’ve put on? It’s been almost a year for you too, right?
Well it must of been a big increase. I went from 165ish lbs with 20% body fat up to 195 (water retention) and now 180-185 with sub 10% body fat. I keep losing fat as well. I would say ive easily put on 15lbs of muscle. Probably close to 20 on the legs and upper body.
All my friends i used to ride bikes with keep saying how big ive gotten compared to last year. to me I dont think i got that big, but to them its like im on some PEDs and etc.
more than anything i just love having a flat stomach, no bloating, nice little six pack and great toned body top to bottom. girls like toned. especially my new lady.
I actually have been gradually eating more and more throughout the day (over the last 2-3 months) with a goal of giving the body more fuel. i was pushing IF way too much for the last 9 months, but its enough now that i am almost as lean as i can get. Doing this i actually lost more weight than just doing IF everyday. Kicking that metabolism into gear right?
In a few months i hope to put on a bit more thickness. right now my thighs, back and chest have plenty. My arms are always lacking because i have super long arms with very long muscles. you have a similar body type.Genetics. ill win in the long run… damnit
That is absolutely crazy! Gotta love getting those compliments. I love it when someone sees you for the first time in a while and is just like “…damn,” lol. I saw a family member recently who was ogling at my arms. Does a lot for the confidence. I bet your bike-riding friends are jealous of your newfound swoleness. Now you need to get them lifting!
I agree with you on the abs – I don’t like seeing them disappear, love having definition in the midsection. Being big and strong is awesome, but IMO it’s way more rare to have a shredded physique (with muscle, of course). There are a lot of strong guys in the gym who are around 20% BF.
I hear you man, I’m not fasting anymore either. Gotta take advantage of this newbie gains-esque window – it seems like while we’re new to exogenous T, we have more capacity to put on lean mass. Arms are actually a strong point for me – do you train them directly? I bet if you had a dedicated arm day, they’d grow a lot. I generally don’t get enough stimulus from just the compound movements for them to actually progress.
Incredibly TMI warning
I never used to have gas, but I’ve had out-of-control protein farts over the past month. The smell is terrible.
I do consume protein powder on a daily basis, but that’s nothing new, and I haven’t changed my brand (True Nutrition) – though I did recently switch from vanilla to chocolate. Could a flavor switch cause these digestive problems? I literally went from having no gas for years to having constant, terrible gas. Any other ideas as to what spurs the misery of protein farts?
I use 100% isolate for this very reason.
Different flavors do need different ingredients to create that flavor, so yeah, very possible the flavor change did have something in it that you react to.
You could have developed lactose intolerance over the years. A lot of protein blends have some sort of milk powder in them
I just find it odd that I went from zero to 60 overnight. It’s been brutal – mainly for my wife, lol.
The ingredients in this bag are: Whey Protein Isolate (Milk), Chocolate Fudge Brownie Flavor (Natural Flavoring Extracts, Cocoa, Non-GMO Rice Powder, Guar Gum, Stevia), and Lecithin (Soy).
Interestingly, I just went through old receipts and noticed that the previous times I had ordered from True Nutrition, I had ordered their Whey Protein Isolate Cold Filtration. I wonder if that filtering process makes the difference?
Just ordered more of the Cold Filtration. This will be the true test. It would suck if that’s the case, because now I have a giant bag of non-cold filtered whey, lol.
@bkb333 - as we approach week 3 if ED injections, how are you feeling? Any noticable change?
While I was EOD, I felt great the day after my shot. My goal moving to ED was to feel like that daily. My first few days ED, I did feel pretty good, bu have to report I do not feel like I assumed I would just yet. If anything, I don’t feel the T buzz like I used to… And not as energetic/focused.
Still going to stay the course. Here’s hoping to some improvement soon.
Hope you are doing well, side from the gas of course. ![]()
Thanks, brother! I am in a similar place to you. When I switched to ED (and upped my T dose and dropped Danazol), I immediately felt substantially better. Libido and mood improved greatly.
After about the first week, though, the positive effects reduced – especially libido, which is better than it was before ED but not what I’d like it to be. If I were to go on a scale…
Before the ED switch: 0/10
First week after switch: 7/10
Since that first week: 4/10
In sum, I am feeling better and am very glad I made the change. I have a feeling things will continue to improve over time, especially as the 250 mg/week really hits my system. I’m also excited to add the T3 medication and see if that helps.
@bcostigan41
When I switched from EOD to daily I remember on week 6 thinking I just don’t feel as good but I held out another 2-3 weeks and one day out of no where everything just clicked and has been that way ever since. I used to parrot the “6 weeks and assess” shit but I’ve learned for me it’s 8 weeks minimum to get any of the positives from a new dose or protocol. Stick it out.
I know everything is clicking for you now, and going to ED made a big difference. How well was TRT working for you at EOD? Still good, but not what it is now?
@bkb333
On EOD I felt fine but still felt like I wasn’t quite there yet if that makes any sense. I also had a lot more “off days” than I do now. Not all the time but more than I wanted to live with.
Thanks @dextermorgan for the words of encouragement… Staying the course and will keep going for sure!
@bkb333 - I was doing decent EOD I think. Symptoms from pre TRT were drastically improved, but I’d still have some bedroom issue from time to time. There would be times I’d just lose my erection mid sex for no obvious reason… Or times I couldn’t finish… Or times I’d get an erection but couldn’t maintain it.
Energy/well being/clarity of thought - 9/10 the day after a shot and 6/10 the day of a shot.
My main motivation switching to ED is to be 9/10 daily and eliminate said issues mentioned above all together. So far, in 3 weeks I’ve had no sex issues… So we’ll just carry on.
