Realistic TRT Recomp Progress

This might sound crazy to you, but I’m so used to seeing high numbers on everything for myself at this point that 1192/23/41 sound completely normal and optimally healthy to me! For example, at the height of my dosing, my numbers were 2889/54/91.

E and SHBG have been the biggest factors for me. I started TRT because my starting SHBG was 187. Yep – 187! At last check, it was down to 46, but E was still high (84) and TT/FT had lowered to 1919/42. I know 42 sounds super high, but I didn’t feel good – libido was bad like it is now, likely because of high E.

Did you decide to back off? If so, why? Sounds like you were in a perfect place! I hope ED gets you back there, man.

Thank you, brother. I’m pulling for you too!

I really did feel amazing – but to be honest, that was the only point in this TRT journey where my libido has even been higher than like a 5 (it was probably a 7, and is a 1 now). I wasn’t ‘trying’ to blast, just to feel OK. My HCT was 46 and PSA has always been 0.4, though I haven’t checked that one since February (probably should soon). HGB was 15.6. I don’t see any cause for concern in those numbers.

The numbers that were deemed a cause for concern were the high T values. I know people say you shouldn’t be concerned about that – and I agree in 99% of cases – but 2889 and 54 are astronomical! Probably not the safest to keep them that high all the time…yet that’s the only place I’ve felt decent. Hence my dilemma.

Number of androgen receptors, cag repeat units, density of receptors etc will dictate at what concentration you feel best at… so yeet

Guys with PAIS can require TT of like 3000+ to feel decent (doubt you have this) and can have baseline levels of like 1000+

I’ve never heard of PAIS before, but my TT before starting any HOT interventions was 1150.

Edit: Reading up on PAIS now. This is fascinating. Seems like it could describe me.

I was at 1050 the first time I was ever tested, about a year before TRT. Still had issues then too. I would kill to have blood test results before all this started.

I’m going to have to read about pais when I get home

All of my numbers are almost the same as your “current” ones too. Maybe I need a blast to see what happens. Who knows honestly.

Yeah man, could potentially describe both of us. @unreal24278, I’m curious: why do you say you doubt I’d have this? Just cause it’s very rare? The only time I felt even some sex drive was when TT was nearly 3K.

I thought I was crazy for not feeling better with 1500+ TT and 39 FT but at least I’m not the only one. I’m waiting on thyroid labs to see if anything is going on there. If that’s fine then at some point I need to either increase or decrease dose if what I’m doing now isn’t working.

I only had thyroid tested when I was at the height of Free/Total T – and all my values were totally normal.

I’ve been reading some studies that relate raised TSH and prolactin to delayed ejaculation so that’s what piqued my interest since I have all of those. Guess we’ll see.

I feel better at 200mg than I do at 500mg. Not sure why.

Just too much heart-racing, trouble sleeping, etc? Like too much of a good thing (e.g., caffeine)?

I haven’t seen it but I’m really jealous of your dramatic increase in quality of life. My TT was sub 250 and I can’t tell I’m even on TRT. The ONLY thing that has changed is I’ve been able to gain a little muscle from working out. Still feel horrible.

Guess I need to try a few different protocols. Which I’ve been threatening to do lol, just need to do it.

I don’t get any of that. I don’t feel much different on 500mg besides a little less energy and gain fat much easier. I obviously gain muscle easier as well. My sleep is a little worse but I don’t sleep great regardless. I just feel better mentally at 200mg for some reason.

What are your levels now that you’re on TRT?

What’s your dose? Also, the dramatic increase in quality of life was over the summer – I’ve pretty much gone back to baseline. Sucks! Trying to get back to high-T Paul Rudd now.

@bkb333
I take it you achieved your current physique before TRT? Very impressive

I seriously love this. I want to be high-t Rudd all the time…haha

I’ve got to track down lab results. Doctor never would test for free T. I’ve done some bloods on my own that included free t but I’ll have to find them.

Started at 100mg a week, then 150, now 200. At 150mg, 3 days after shot my TT was only like 550. Of course my doctor was happy with that so he said leave it. I went to 200 a week on my own. Last time I had bloods done on 200 a week it was drawn on the 4th day after injection and it was like 600ish if I remember correctly.

Thanks, brother, but TRT has definitely made a difference.

I was in pretty good shape, but the T has taken things to the next level. That said, I’m not looking quite as great today as I was when the T was roaring in June/July.

Sounds like a bad doctor. IMO, the TT is a bad indicator. However, given those numbers, I see no issue with pinning 200 or even more (though we don’t know Free T/E/SHBG/HCT/etc).

He would test for total and E. Also did tons of routine blood work and stuff. No high hemocrit or anything like that. I’ve been on 200 for a while now and can’t tell. Guess I could go higher
