Realistic TRT Recomp Progress

Good to know. What dose @iron_yuppie? Thoughts on var now?

I’m contemplating something like 7.5 or 15 as part of my usual protocol – 50 mg EOD didn’t completely destroy my lipids (it could’ve been much worse as @unreal24278 noted) but my HDL is still too low for comfort.

I’ve been thinking about cortisol and muscle-building. Wondering if drinking too much caffeine could be inhibiting my gainz. I cut it off by noon (for sleep) but do have a good amount in the morning.

What do y’all think? Should caffeine be eliminated, or what’s a good amount?

I think caffeine is the number one used “supplement” in body building besides creatine. Although it’s not healthy and probably a good idea to not mess with, I can’t imagine it hurting gainzz. Could be wrong though :man_shrugging:

You’re probably right. I think that’s because of its addictive properties for the most part, though it definitely helps fuel workouts. I remember Ben Pakulski saying at one point that the best BBers were always the lowest-stress individuals. Seems like caffeine would counteract that, right?

I believe melatonin stops cortisol (thought I read that somewhere). Might could take a micro dose after working out :man_shrugging: No idea. My life is full of stress, I’ve never even contemplated lowering it lol just part of it

Use caffeine as a tool. If it is keeping you up at night, the benefit is probably less than the gains from it.

It isn’t keeping me up now. Can definitely feel occasional anxiety spikes though. But life feels more dull and grey without it. I took a few months off in the fall but hopped back on.

How do you use it?

Lol I’d turn into an absolute zombie. I’m already so chill after I lift and eat.

Well, I am a bad example. I have it at work, and pre workout. I average 3-400 mg/day depending on if I work out. I wouldn’t go much higher than that. I used to use more like 5-600 mg/day.

400mg/day? My head would explode. I’m over here trying not to have a glass of tea after lunch so I can be sure I can sleep

My point of view certainly might change once the baby is here though.

I got to around 6-900 a day, realized that was a lot and quit cold turkey. Went a few months with no caffeine, then started sneaking in a small sugar free red bull, then a C4 here and there, and now I’m doing a C4 daily, but stimulant free pre workout :man_shrugging: Sometimes on days I don’t have to work I’ll hit the stimulant free pre workout AND a total war pre workout for some handshakingky good workouts lol

I absolutely love the way C4’s taste, i wish they’d make some caffeine free ones, I definitely feel like there’s a market there.

I remember years ago I used to drink coffee every morning and took caffeine on top of that. For me, after a while it just felt like I needed the caffeine to get back to baseline and it wasn’t really doing anything to help me beyond that, so I quit cold turkey. Headaches ensued, but ultimately I haven’t really taken much since and haven’t really missed it. I’m probably not the norm though.

Some people do seem to love it, I’m just not much of a stimulant kind of guy so I’ve been able to keep clear of it. Esp. with the whole panic attacks thing last year, I have zero interest in caffeine now

Some crystal light stuff is pretty good. I like the grape one for working out, but that does have 60 mg of caffeine. I think you can get it without too.

I don’t think that’s very bad. I probably have the same amount. MPMD said 400mg is a good upper limit IIRC. I have cut out stimulant PWOs though and feel better on stim-free at this point. The other stuff is too intense.

Dude I was literally looking for this yesterday at GNC. Definitely a missed opportunity!

Somehow it did not deter me lol. The stuff is too addictive.

My mental health has been super off since adding oxandrolone. Numbers look great on paper but I wonder if the var is having a negative effect on my mind. I wouldn’t call it roid rage (and libido isn’t high) but I feel way more irritable, moody, sensitive. E2 hasn’t changed. Maybe FT of 61 is just too high?

More DHT? Wouldn’t that drive aggression or change your mood?

I don’t notice any of that on Oxandrolone, but my libido goes bye bye

Hmm…my DHT was actually only 111, on the last two test prior it was 197

Agreed, probably a wise approach.

Meeting with my doc soon to discuss the bloods. Hard to balance how I feel (mental health being so strange) vs. how good the T numbers are (best I’ve ever seen) and the effects on lipids, which aren’t terrible, but also not ideal in terms of long-term prognosis.

I plan to ask him about bumping my T dose higher and potentially dropping oxandrolone. Do you think I should try a lower dose of anavar (maybe 15 or 25 mg EOD)? I’d love to keep something resembling that excellent FT:TT ratio.
