Realistic TRT Recomp Progress

Maybe a weird step, but I’ve started tracking how often the wife and I have sex. Should provide more info for actually objectively evaluating libido and protocols. 13 days into April, we’re at 4, which obviously is not great but is actually a bit more than normal.

Just don’t ever tell her.

Lately – maybe it’s the beautiful weather, maybe that I’m cutting down – I’ve felt oddly motivated to do cardio. So far, I’ve just made a conscious effort to bump my steps up to 11-12K per day, but I’m considering more focused cardio (like an online Orange Theory class or some Tabatas or sprints).

My focus is on getting healthier (in better cardio shape) and burning calories, but obviously not muscle.

What’s everyone’s favorite form of cardio?

I love to get on an elliptical and train for stamina and capacity. I see pretty good progress when I keep my heart rate around 155-160 bpm. I’m usually worn out at around 35 minutes if it’s after strength training. If it’s a cardio-only day I can go a good bit longer at that intensity.

Best thing about elliptical is it saves your body from impact. I haven’t been able to tolerate running since lumbar fusion surgery.

Mountain biking is pretty great. Can actually build some leg muscle too (same with road cycling). Generally, running is associated with muscle loss. Pretty low impact (unless you crash).

Downside is that it is not the most available form of exercise. Even in the summer, sometimes there are only a couple days I can do it per week. If it rains hard, the trails usually close for two following days.

Oh yeah, I love the elliptical! I wish I had one at home (and obviously gyms are closed). It’s so good for preserving the joints – one of my favorite machines in the gym. I also love bikes.

Do you measure your heart rate on a device? I just ordered an Apple Watch earlier today.

I hear you on that. I really need to get a bike. We got a nice one for my wife last summer but I don’t have one.

Walking should be more muscle-preserving than running, right? I also like that walking seems to blunt your appetite whereas running spikes it.

Check out used bikes. Many people have thousand dollar bikes just hanging around. I paid 600 for a used bikes that was 2k 5 years previous to my purchase.

Walking is superior IMO to running if muscle preservation is your goal.

I have an Apple Watch that I use to track all that. Every time I’ve checked to see how the machines line up they’re right on, though.

I like it alright for general use plus heart rate, steps, and calorie tracking. If you’re not super setting everything then the strength training workout mode will wildly overestimate calorie expenditure. I wish it did a little more like some of the fitness-oriented straps, but all in all I’m happy with it.

Nice. I’m excited to try mine out. I’ve never tracked heart rate or calories, so that will be interesting. I’ve only measured steps to date.

I’m surprised the strength training mode overestimates calorie expenditure. That said, I believe heavy lifting can increase your metabolism, so maybe there’s something to that.

New favorite protein bar. These things are phenomenal. Caramel chaos tastes like a Snickers. They’re $1.67 apiece if you buy on Amazon.

220 cals 8F 20C 23P – and 20g dietary fiber

I’ve been playing around with protein ice cream recipes, and the one I’ve settled on is really similar to what Dr. Greg shares in this video:

The macros are nuts, it tastes amazing, and it’s insanely filling – you’ll be stuffed for hours. You’re actually exhausted when you finish eating. Quite a diet hack.

Anyone else experiencing major delays with medication shipment? My test is almost out and clinic says it is doing everything it can but isnt sure when it will be shipped… I ordered on May 5th. Not sure what to do if I run out?? Any advice? Pct or wait it out?

Gotta figure out how to stockpile a bit I think. I have 15 extra vials for that situation. When will you run out at current dose? Can you drop your dose and limp along for a little bit?

Do you mean you ordered April 5? Yeah, mine is delayed too, man – UPS is holding the shipment. Sucks! I’ve been following up via email but they haven’t gotten back to me.

I’m concerned about running out too. I agree with lowering dose instead of sticking with the current protocol until it runs out. How much T do you have and what’s your current dose?

Well I take 200mg a week split in two doses. I believe i can squeeze 1 more dose out and then have to make a decision next week if it doesnt arrive by then. Ive definitely learned my lesson and plan on stocking up. I really thought it would have come by now so I havent really changed anything. You? And yes I ordered April 5th which is normally plenty of time.

Oops missed your reply NHWatts. My clinic is offering some great deals currently and Im in the process of getting a large order for a reduced price. But in the meantime after my last dose i guess I could wait a week and if nothing changes try hcg? I purchased hcg with my first ever package but never used it and guess I may have to?

yes april 5th. Sorry I had a few beers

I’m getting worried about that for mine too… just re-ordered today but I’m not sure how much I have left. It’s hard to tell what volume is left in the vial, but it isn’t going to last more than 2 weeks I’d guess.

I have some UGL enanthate but I’d rather not have to switch back and forth if I can help it

I don’t think the switch would be that big of a deal. Obviously ideal not to do so, but I wouldn’t fret too much over it. It’s just amazing that you have that!
