Ha. Not sure I want to go that route right now. I really thought getting rid of booze was going to be a bit more dramatic. I mean Ive dropped the bloat but that about it. Maybe I need to start logging food/macros again and be a bit more scientific about this. I just hate counting calories. Im NOT trying to step on stage or anything.
Itās like any other habit ā sucks for a while, then becomes second nature. I totally get why this is annoying, but I donāt even think about it at this point. Itās given me a really good gauge of what Iām consuming (and how my body will react to it) even when I donāt track. Itās taken 1-2 years of consistent macro-tracking, though.
I donāt see Anavar in your Creds thread post ![]()
Yeah, I have been down this path so many times. I can guess my cals within 100-200 cals on the daily but feel I need to focus on macros. I have the āfatsoā gene so I donāt process saturated fats properly so maybe I should really build my diet around that. High protein, moderate carb, low sat fat, moderate unsaturated fats.
Hey dude, thanks for allowing all of these discussions here. Your log is just flowing.
I think a good method to starting a habit is starting very small. If you are not doing anything right now, maybe just start counting only calories (I assume the meals you choose in general are higher protein anyways). Start with the smallest thing you could do and commit to it.
I have a goal every day to floss one tooth (got the idea on the art of manliness website). I do not plan on expanding the goal either. The thing is, most days once I floss one tooth I figure why not do the rest. If I only feel like one, thatās it.
āBaby Stepsā arenāt really the best for me because I feel like I am wasting my time. I realize thats different than a lot of folks but something Ive learned about myself. Im all-in whenever I can be. I thrive on the challenge. Like I said, Iāve been down this path so many times for so long its just another tool in the toolbox. The difference this time is there is no alcohol involved.
I have reduced my alcohol intake dramatically over the last two years. I used to have 2-3 beers a night, and on Friday and Saturday it could be way more if at a party or going out. Probably 20-30 drinks per week depending on the week. I now average closer to 5-10 drinks per week depending on the week. It has made a difference over time.
Thats great dude. I quit in September, probably 20-30 similar to you, and the only difference Ive seen is dropping a little bloat/inflammation. I have no idea how cutting all of those cals out of my diet didnt net immediate and drastic weight loss but it hasnāt. Homeostasis is a cunt.
On the other side of the coin, you might have gained 5 lbs of fat if you didnāt cut it out. I know I was gaining weight while I was in that habit of drinking every night.
Your body may have recomped a bit. Sleep gets better when you donāt drink. You may be eating a bit more, but those calories are going to be much better for muscle than for fat as compared to booze.
Yes maybe I am just being impatient. How can I expect 25 years of abuse to net major results over the course of only 6 months.
Everything in life improves when alcohol is reduced ā respect to you for making that change, man. Iām sure the body comp changes will come with time.
Thanks brother. I feel better and better each day and ALL my lifts blew up.
Trying to be patient.
IMO, this is a sign that even though the scale is the same, that you have likely recomped a bit. You have been lifting long enough, that for all the lifts to shoot up indicates building muscle.
I see your point. Im going to take that win, thanks. Im just too close to it.
Havenāt done it yet
Canāt wait for that log. Guessing the circumstances have delayed the likelihood of that, though?
Anyone around here have an Apple Watch? Like it? Iād want to turn off the notifications ā no desire to get texts/emails on my wrist ā but am interested in it for the health feedback. I usually just carry a little pedometer in my pocket. The display/look is a lot nicer than a FitBit, IMO.
Yes. Love it for health data. Heart rate, HRV, cals, steps etc. I donāt get a lot of texts so the notifications arent too bad. It tells me when Iāve been sitting too long or if my MOVE tracker is behind for the day. Id love it to do a bit more though like the WHOOP band or Oura ring like for sleep and recovery stuff BUT everything has its price.
Thatās awesome. I actually think the Apple Watch is a pretty cool look. I know the WHOOP and Oura give better data, but I like the Apple Watch a lot.
My wife has one and loves it. I tried hers for a few days and it was more of could take it or leave it type thing for me, but, just the basic health data was pretty cool to have records of. It was neat to see my pulse changing throughout the day and bottoming out when I passed out on the couch after work, haha.
The biggest issue I had with it is I wanted more data on sleep and with the battery life barely lasting through a full day it had to be charged every night, so I couldnāt wear it while sleeping
