Real Men are Now Fashionable

Sadly yes. Also it’s not all like that. I played lacrosse all throughout college and we definitely didn’t have any of these “lax-bros”. It’s a younger generation thing for sure, as none of the others I play with in my beer league of old guys understands it.

Agreed bro, and I dress the same as them, nothing like an Affliction or Armani Tee, some fresh Nikes or Jordans, and LRG Jeans. Fresh. to. death.
Nikes/Jordans = Pumas/New Balance
LRG Jeans= H&M/Zara
Affliction/Armani = Metropark/Forever21

I really wouldn’t put the tool-factor of Affliction on the same level as Forever21, lol
Theres a tool factor that goes with Forever21?? I just didnt want to wear Affliction because I wouldnt be able to pull it off.

I think its funny how they call girls that jock the players “lacrossetitues” lol

Dude down the street has this sticker on his van:

“Lacrosse doesn’t build character. It eliminates weak ones.”

Hey look…haters.

LOL, I’ve never seen anyone wearing apparel from Elite outside of meets or in the PL gym I train at occasionally. Hardly the same as those stupid graphic tees that look fine, until you reach legal age that is. I gave away the Elite shirt freebee that came with my squat suit (size XXXL, ya right) and the kid who got it wears it proudly because he knows what the company stands for and has respect for the sport.
Don’t compare Elite with Affliction, it just makes you look dumb.

I am sorry, but I must have not read my own post. Can you tell me where I compared Elite to Affliction?

If you look at the bolded part of the OP you will see the point of my post.

You made a comparison based on free advertising cowboy.
Elite and teenage retail off-the-rack are apples and oranges.

I’m of a like mind here. Generally everything I have doesn’t have a label name all over it. About the only thing noticeable on most of my shirts would be whatever small logo on the breast that’s there with some dress shirts from brooks brothers, ralph lauren, etc. I’ve just never been a big fan of all the “flare” you see on a lot of clothes, just looks a bit tasteless to me.
I’m the same way. I used to be a graphic T kinda guy (when I was younger) but now that I’m 27 I dont find the look of graphic t’s very appealing. I am definitely not an affliction t-shirt kinda guy but I see the appeal.

They found a nitch in the market and have done very well branding their clothing line. They make shirts that are designed for guys with some muscle (unlike most clothing companies) so I have to give them props for that.

Its not really my thing but I can see why a lot of people like it.
Very true. If they did one thing truly great it’s their marketing. Hell I’d buy some of the shirts just for the cut since as you said very few companies have shirts made for people with muscle that just don’t look like crap (I think affliction looks like crap but mainly because of the graphics, not because of the cut) if they’d just make some plain ones, even though I very rarely wear t-shirts unless I’m coaching/training.

As a side note, while I think the graphics are dumb with affliction, the general issue I have is with the culture of people in my area that tend to wear it. I’d probably feel the same way about Elitefts stuff if it ever got really going and skinny guys who never lifted a weight in their life started wearing it and claiming they were powerlifters. I’d then proceed to say these guys suck at life. Another sub-culture that I’ve been seeing more and more especially in the younger ages (I coach high school rowing) is a “lax-bro” subculture that is beyond idiotic that involves calf socks, longer hair (almost mullet) that they call “flo” and the incessant use of ridiculously stupid phrases. Meh, screw the rake, I’m definitely going to have one of those wrist-rocket sling shots and just sit on my front porch, drink beer, and shoot as they come near. Using a rake just requires too much effort.

I wear both actually, I have a wide variety of clothing and definitely rock elite tees to class and what not as well. To be quite honest I don’t like affliction because it says affliction. I just like how they fit, they are long tees, that hug the body tight with huge necks and form fitting sleeves and quite honestly are perfect for showing off your hard work in the gym. And I really could care less, but I don’t work out for it not to be noticed and anyone who says they don’t like hearing someone compliment their muscles is lying. I get compliments all the time and I will wear what I like. I don’t think anyone should be judged on the clothes they wear as long as they are appropriate.

Nobody in here would call me a “fag” to my face because I was wearing an affliction shirt. Seriously, nobody in here would for a few reason, 1 I look good, 2 you’d be an immature prick to say something like that, and 3 none of you would want a confrentation with me so you’d hold off on the bull shit (not refrencing anyone in particular here just making a generalization). Lastly I am not going to pick on someone wearing their dockers and polo, or their levis and metallica t-shirt so I should be owed the same respect. Elite caters to lifters, their clothing would not be best suited for the bar or club scene, but the gym. Affliction caters to lifters, their clothing is what you wear to the club or the bar. Good clothing helps your appearance and makes you feel good, you’d be lying if you said it doesn’t and seeing they are both in two different categories you can’t compare the 2 companies, but I’d buy an affliction shirt over an elite any day if I had to only choose between one or the other.

There are plenty of people that would call you a fag to your face in your life. Thinking that you are above them and they couldn’t handle a confrontation with you is a good way to get yourself killed. It’s not who knows how to fight best or who is strongest in a bar fight. It’s the person who takes it to the most extreme level of violence the quickest. When you realize this, you’ll realize how dumb it is to fight (in particular non-sanctioned/refereed fights). You can talk all you want about being a hard-ass but there is always someone out there that lacks control, someone that lacks limits, and that is the person that will win. Take it from someone that has seen this happen.

I was making a slight against all the douchebags in my area that wear affliction, claim they are MMA fighters, when they have never fought even in an amateaur fight, simply taken a few classes.

If I wanted to slight you directly, I would.

I disagree that affliction should be worn to a bar. As said though, I think the classic look of corporate America is a quality look, something that can exude confidence, personality, style, and respect. That and the stigma in my area surrounding affliction is just laughable, something akin to people from the Jersey Shore would wear. That being said, I do respect the differences in geographical styles (which after moving 17 times or so I’ve noticed most definitely do differ greatly) even if they’re not my predisposition.
