Ready-to-Drink Protein Sucks. Here's Why

Because climate change alarmists have a bad reputation for hyperbole

Used to get cases at Costco for like $28… it’s gone way up.

Ah ya forget us lowly peasants… Cater to celebs with gyno !

It’s still around, new label and now available in grocery stores like Kroger and target

It was available to everyone. Not many bought it because it costs more premade. Fun way to support a product: buy it.

When in college, my initial economic attempt at a protein shake was me adding Carnation dry milk powder to a glass of milk where it calculated at about double concentration. The taste was good enough

Oh Chris… goofball. The joke was we can’t support you if it’s not available. What was in it?

Hi Chris, what’s your thoughts on Quest shakes, both RTD and powder?

RTDs: Same issues discussed in the article above: not the best proteins at a higher price compared to shaking your own shakes. Not sure about the powder. Check the ingredient list. Given their popularity at retail stores and the need to meet margins and pay the middleman, I doubt they could use the best ingredients.

RTDs suck, in part, because: ā€œThe FDA requires RTDs to be pasteurized. Using the best proteins would be a waste because the heat from pasteurization destroys a lot of the delicate bioactive peptides that make certain proteins highly beneficial for lifters.ā€
Then I have an ignorant question about cooking proteins, in general.
The milk I buy is pasteurized, does that degrade the protein? I often stir a scoop of MD into my oatmeal after is is cooked, but still hot as lava. Does that degrade protein? ā€œCooking with Chrisā€ has at least two recipes, oatmeal cookies and muffins, that use MD before baking. Does that degrade the protein? The chicken I eat is cooked to ~165 degrees, does that degrade the protein? I guess I’d like to get some guidance, in general, about cooking protein. Not trying to be a smart ass, just confused.

Interesting thing to note here…am a cadet at West Point and the only free protein shakes there are Muscle Milks. Grateful and all, but wondering if they’re better than nothing given the calcium caseinate.

Muscle Milk went really cheap and low quality on their stuff. Redcon1 did too. Fuck em’

You going 11B ?

These are highly subsidized and plentiful at my office. 2-3 vanilla shakes throughout the day instead of the donuts and club sandwiches have been a tremendous help for maintaining plan.
