nice, Quagmire. I agree with the post that said they mainly head for the ab mats and elliptical trainers, so they’re not usually in my way.
Except for parking, where they circle for 10 minutes to park close…so they don’t have to walk as far…so they can go inside and get on a treadmill sooner and walk going nowhere. ???
I have mixed feelings about it though because I used to be a trainer and January = cash cows.

Fortunately the majority of these resolution “lifters” will be swarming the cardio section fighting for a spot on the treadmill. [/quote]
This is true at my gym. Nobody comes into the weight room, and by March they are long gone.
I was one of those newbies and started off as probably someone most of you hate-stupid stuff like smith machine squats, and others dumb things-, but luckily found this site. Out of the bunch I’m sure I will see some who stick it out, and thats always good to see.
Ok I thought this would fit in perfect with this forum. We workout in a gym that seems to be for Doctors, Lawyers or anyone that makes to much money to put there cell phone away while they work out. My friend finally had enough today of waiting to get to 45lb weight and went off here is his vent:
I just wanted to write vent a little after today’s conversation in the gym.
I was at the gym this afternoon and found myself getting a little irritated
at the 35 pound plates. What the hell is a 35 pound plate good for? If you
need 35lbs add a 10lb to a 25lb and you’re good. All 35lb plates do it take
up space and steel (and rubber depending on how girlie of a gym you go to).
I first realized how much I hated these things when I went into the gym one
day and all the 45’s were being used; yet there were about 20 35lb plates
mocking me on the rack. Yes for all of you who want to point out that I
could of used a 35 and a 10 to get my 45 I know this; however I bench more
then 135 lbs so therefore that isn’t exactly logical for me.
So enough
bitching here is my solution to this: Take all those 35 plates put them in
a smelting pot get some 45 temples and pore the steel in. This way when
real lifters get in the gym they have some damn tools to complete there
sets. I will say you can keep 2 35’s in the gym just incase a guy comes in
that loads up the leg press and can’t get that last 45 up; then he may need
a 35 because he wouldn’t have enough room for the 25 and 10. Other then
that there is no excuse for a 35lb plate to be in any gym.

You are an idiot, this is the biggest load of crap I have ever read on here.

I’ll take your 35’s, they are the same diameter as my bumper plates.
I have a set of 45’s that never come off the bar in my power rack, but whenever I deadlift I use 35’s. Hey, I just realized I deadlift from a deficit.
I have no issue with 35’s or any other non machine weight the gym provides. I was just posting something one of my workout crew vented on one day when the gym had way to many 35’s and only several 45’s. We are powerlifters and bodybuilders trying to workout in a gym that is not set up for out group.
It would be nice however if they did have a section with maybe 2 squat racks with dumbells that went pass 100 lbs. Seems that those type of gyms may become a thing of the past with everyone wanting to be ultra safe or fast and use a machine.
