Reactions from Black Eyes?

So I purposely left out that I am a cop. Does that change anyone’s thoughts of how I should approach this

I lol’d really I did

You…know…I’ve never really put in any thought to this. I don’t bruise easily…have taken hard shots to the eyes that bruise up…and sometimes they don’t. I wear glasses…so I guess that masks it a bit too…along with my skin color…lol. Plus I religiously wear headgear…except for light timing/contact drills. I get more scrapes than anything on the face and neck. I get more questions about bruises and knots on my legs and shins more than anything.

I guess because most “everyday” people relate black eyes/bruises to face more to straight boxing than anything. I doubt most people will see bruised legs/shins(sometimes arms) and say “Oh,he must do kickboxing or practice Muay Thai.”

Realize that people tend to be intimidated by you by virtue of being a cop.
Add a black eye and theyll probably think youre some kind of thug.

Damutt, did I kill your journal thread?

Nope just not much of a blogger…

Everyone at work knows what I do, in fact they are very supportive. Most of my co-workers have been to all of my fights. But whenever I look like a raccoon, I like to use an old line from Rocky
“If you think my face looks bad, you should see the other guys’ fists!” That usually breaks any tension if there is any. With that said, here’s a post fight pic after my 5th fight. Glad I won, cuz I came out WAY uglier lookin! (i’m the one on the right)

The folks who know me already know I train, so nobody pays any attention to my various boo boos. Strangers look at me with pity or scurry away, I’m sure that’s because I’m female though.

I asked a waiter with a shiner once, “How’d you get the black eye?” He casually replied, “Oh, in the usual manner” and proceeded to take our order. I thought that was funny.

funny even in the combat forum a black eye can make even a cop a thug… I know peoples opinion of law enforcement vary but for the most part people think police have integrity and stand for something… interesting perspective

You need to work on your reading comprehension. I didn’t say cops with shiners are thugs, but some cops are corrupt, and they’re the ones who make the news. If a cop shows up with a banged up face, people are gonna be intimidated.

Lucky for me I work out doors and get to “sport” a black eye when I win one in a fight.

Back when I was a man and worked outside, I could come in with black eyes all the time. Only difference was back then they were from…other incidents… but at my job everyone was a felon.
