Nice squatting, Mr Skinny Jeans. Do you use the cross-arm setup or clean grip with the front squat? I find the clean grip much easier to maintain control of the bar.
I am using genie style right now, but I pretty much hate every possible way to front squat. I never got the hang of clean grip front squats, but I didn’t give it much of a try either. Maybe I’ll work on that.
Great squatting 335x7 is legit…I used the Cali style front squats as well, I just dont have the wrist flexibility.

Notes: Average day in the gym, awesome day overall, skiing was great and the weather was great. Now I’m going to chow down on a pile of prime sirloin.

Morning BW is holding right around 201, and I’m on the fence about dropping any more weight. I’d like to lift in the 198’s, but to do that I really need to drop about 5-7 more pounds to leave room for some peaking gains, which I’m not all that excited about. If the damn USAPL local meets would just get with the times, I could lift in the 204.6 class that is the new national and international standard, which would be perfect.
I think it was dumb to adopt the new weight classes (shameful copycat job of OL), but what’s done is done and the USAPL local meets should just go ahead and make the change since all of the national meets are under the new regime.
Ya, they compounded one stupid move with another, I can’t believe the weight classes are different between for example, our WA state meet and Master’s Nationals. And the change will come eventually everywhere, so maybe I just won’t worry about 198 class and just plan for 204.
It’s actually 205 pounds (93 kilos), so you can be up to a whole pound heavier.

Notes: Meh. Got in and out, time to load up and head to my cousin’s lake house for a few days.
If the USAPL changes at the State level soon, I’ll have to change my game plan. My State meet is in February and I have 2 of the 3 lifts in the bag. Just need to bring my Deadlift up a bit. I’m sitting in the low 190’s and was going to gain another 8 or 10 starting 3 months out.
I thought the Left Coast was suppose to be “progressive”.

Great lifting and numbers in here. Maybe with some luck the next Olympics will have powerlifting. The rest of the world (USA not included) seems to enjoy and support powerlifting to a much greater degree than here.
Thanks, fellas, for stopping in and checking on me. A good time was had by all at the lake. We ran dawn patrol and free skied (no course) the first few hours after sun up each morning because this lake gets crazy after that, but it was great to get some fasted GPP in. Man oh man was I hungry when we got back in and I spent the rest of the day eating and swimming with the boy, who just wouldn’t get out of the lake. He’s a real waterdog alright.
Today:
1’s day, squats, TM 370.
Squats: 45 x10, 135 x5, 185 x5, 225 x5, 275 x5, 315 x3, 350 x5.
Front Squats: 135 x5, 185 x5, 225 x3, 275 x1, 285 x1, 295 x1, 300 x1.
Notes: I started slow and the weight felt heavy early, but I hit my target on the money set. I am really happy with front squats. I wanted to hit a single for 285 and it went easy. 295 and 300 were both grinders and really wiped me out. Then I packed down a stack of pancakes, bacon, and eggs for dinner. I’ll probably grill up a steak a little later.
I freaking love breakfast for dinner!
