YEAH! I have been creeping your log a bit, you are a strong dude. Excited about hearing how your meet goes!

Spock: Thank you! I appreciate your comments. Keep training hard and I hope you enjoy your first comp.

Go read my last meet writeup in terms of making weight and regaining weight. I dropped 21 lbs the day before weigh-ins, and after weighing in I regained 27.

I’ll be doing another meet writeup of Nationals here shortly as well which will detail the process some more and changes I made.
could you post the link to it?

thanks man this helped alot! gonna try it out and see what happenes

I’ve made some tweaks since then, notably more potassium post weigh in, more sea salt post-weigh in and during the meet as well as higher amounts of liquids to ensure I take advantage of the super-hydration effect as well as to prevent cramping.

This was a problem for me on bench lol. Le ass cramp. Now that I think about it, it may have been the source of my injury. Hydration fail.

Well, first off I didn’t realize I had quite reached celebrity status where I have people tracking my thousands of posts on this website for content, especially outside of the PL forum.

Not that I owe you or anyone else an explanation, since last I checked we weren’t sleeping together and you haven’t started paying any of my bills, but since its out in the open, I will say this. My partipation in the TRT forum is because I am on TRT as a result of testicular cancer. My T levels are closely monitored by a doctor and are maintained in the 75% percentile (or thereabouts) of the range and never go over, which is all documented in my TRT log for anyone that cares to read it.

I have a Therapeutic Use Exemption in place to allow me to compete in my federation. I participate in the TRT forum to help guys that went through what I went through trying to get proper care and advocate for them to empower themselves through knowledge.

In the process, I also found this quite helpful for guys considering AAS cycles as well–you would be amazed at the amount of bro science and poor information out there. My AAS knowledge is limited only to the HPTA and what I have picked up here and there. I have never done a cycle myself and have too much integrity to compete in a drug tested federation if I did.

Which leads me to my next point:

C’mon man, this is pretty much the best compliment a lifter can get. Calm your tits.
Quite frankly, you are wrong. This was not intended as a compliment, and rarely is. Espeically considering that within 5 minutes of this post he had already made another one insulting me in a separate thread.

90% of the time, when you hear someone say this, it is not a COMPLIMENT. It is a LOADED QUESTION. Meaning the inquirer is actually making a thinly veiled accusation, but is too much of a passive aggressive bitch to just come out and say it. Maybe when men with actual character and at least one functioning testicle say it, it can be taken at face value. But when you have little trolls, who likely don’t even lift themselves, come at you with quesitons like that, it may be prudent to tread lightly.

That’s all I have to say about that.

Hmm, perhaps. I don’t know apocalypse, so maybe he is just trying to get your goat, but in my experience, if the only way someone can buy your lists is if you’re juicing, you’re doing a damn good job.

For the record, I only know your a regular in that forum because I lurk there myself, albeit infrequently.

28 years old, 185-190lbs, best lifts are 500-380-500. I like knee wraps and my belt, but other than that I am raw and I am drug free for no, but I am very pro-steroid. I train using the Conjugate Method and 99% of the posts Ive made are in the Westside Method Thread. That cat LiquidMercury has alot of great post over there as well. If yall need any help or advice, please let me know. Watching other people hit PR’s off of my limited knowledge is actually more rewarding than myself hitting one.

Solid lifts man. Just a question though, what do you mean that you are very pro steroid? Not trying to start a juice vs no juice thread I’m just curious. How come you are drug free if you are in support of steroids. I know lots of guys that are very supportive of juice but that’s because they use it. Thanks.

That’s a quite a nice bench press you have there for being that weight.

I’m actually in the same boat. I have never and will likely never use steroids. It’s a personal thing for me, I have too many people depending on me to risk it. At the same time, I couldn’t care less if someone else is using – just as long as they are doing so responsibly. The legal line is very arbitrarily drawn on steroids in my opinion.

I’m not going to let my decision to not use juice get in the way of me getting strong.

I tried to quote it, but this damn iPhone won’t let me do it properly. Frankjl basically answered it for me, as my response is very similar to his. I’m a business owner with employees who depend on me to put food on their table, I’m a family man who likes to come home to my girls every night, so I’ve just decided not to do them for now. It’s a personal choice, but like Frankjl, I don’t bash anyone who uses them. Plus, I’ve only been powerlifting for a short time. Alot of guys on here have been lifting since their early teens, I didn’t really pick up a weight until my sophomore year in college. Although they have been small increments, I’ve steadily gotten stronger over the years, but I don’t think I’ve maxed out my true natural potential yet. One last reason is, in all honesty, I’m chicken shit. Getting a shot from a doctor is hard enough, but sticking myself with a needle full of god knows what scares the fuck out of me! Steroids, when used properly, allow you to train harder, longer and heavier…that whole “illegal” thing just makes me nervous.

And thank you for the comment on my bench. I’d really like to get to 400 this year as a light 198, possibly 181, but only time will tell. The best of luck to all y’all

What programs are you guys running? I’m getting a splitting headache trying to decide what to do next. I’ve got a meet next Saturday, and then I’ll have a 3 week layoff basically due to vacationing. When I get back I’ll have 19 weeks till NASA nationals in November.

Read 5/3/1 for powerlifting, but I really feel like I can handle more intensity and volume to squeeze out faster gains for a while longer. Maybe I’ll give it a go for a few lifts. I really like keeping to 3 full body workouts a week too.

I started SS in January, and then honestly kind of bastardized in into a advance novice/TM type thing. Heres what I was doing…

Monday
LB Squat- 3x5 but eventually started just working up to some triples, doubles.
Bench/Press-3x5 with press mostly, but heavier with bench
Deadlift variation- Snatch grip with 35lb plates majority of weeks doing singles, triples, and some fives.

Wednesday
Front Squat- varied intensity/volume weekly. Stayed between 3-6 reps.
Power Clean- 5x3 upping weight small amount weekly.
Press/Bench- same deal as monday

Friday
LB Squat- Was working heavy like monday, but eventually changed it to a box squat or paused free squat.
Bench/Press- DE mostly
Deadlift- DE either with slight deficit or competition stance from floor.

This doesn’t include assistance, but depending on how I felt, I’d sometimes just choose 1, or as many as 3. I’m happy with my weight, so I just do 2-3 sets usually but sometimes more for chin/pull ups.

And here are the stats I’m working with…or conservative goals for my meet. I plan on going 9-9 and leaving some on the platform.
Height- 5’4
Weight- 132 (training weight 134-135)

Squat- 276
Bench- 226
Deadlift- 391

Thanks for any input. Really feel free to give it to me straight.

I’m liking the Westside Method. Check out the first westside method thread if it sounds interesting. Basically, a really heavy exercise that changes each week or so for upper and lower body each and then speed work with high volume for bench and squat every week.

I’d love to give westside a try. My setup is a tad like theirs in that I basically do ME and DE days. The unfortunate problem though is I workout at a commercial gym during busy time. I just don’t know if I could make it work or not. There are actually a couple of hardcore gyms around, but none of them are half a mile away and only $200 a year for 24hr access…I dunno, maybe its time to make my schedule work with that. People are always saying how training with stronger people helps. I work around people that do half ass squats and deadlift with terrible form…this makes me want to murder a carebear! lol

Westside gets my vote as well. The original thread has a ridiculous amount of solid information on it. I don’t know shit about 531 so I can’t comment but I know it’s popular as hell. There are threads on this board for every program, so just spend some time going through them, you should be able to find something

I don’t have a program
