Looking forward to hearing how the session goes!
I’m about two weeks out from the same.

Nice to see you back at it, @raven78. Hoping the job transition goes smoothly, too.
+1 Hope the new job is going well!

BJJ 1hr, training (al levels class).
-Leg X and backside leg X working transitions to sweeps.
So rusty, rolled 3x times. Some things came back quick, copped a few submissions against advanced belts, but held my own nicely against similar skilled opponents.
Great to be back on the mats. Just the 4 of us plus instructor so good coaching time in there too.
Rest day today - warm bed won.

-First time checking out the gym at work. Single SQ rack, leg press, lat pulldown, another multi-angle adjustable cable machine. Plenty of bars, DB’s, sled etc. There’s a PT that runs boot camp Thursday nights but seems unlikely I’ll stick around for that given family commitments.
-Defo will bring in some lighter lunch sessions during the week. Or ditch the membership at my local and get my gym sessions done at work.

02.08.2024 (6am morning session)
BJJ 1hr, training (al levels class).
-Mount escapes, technique work. Solid technique rolls for much of the session, training specific rolls but only 3 of us so plenty of rest/down time between. More focus on not tensing up and staying relaxed.

-niggling sore throat now, ffs - just the next bug to get over in winter. Hitting up the drugs to nuke it!
-first round was all ok then hit struggle town, conditioning appalling atm
-will catchup on other logs in coming days.
Hopefully you nuke whatever is trying to get you sick.
Went for a cruisy bike ride with junior yesterday. Rugged up in a hoodie, scarf etc. The cold air was a tad brutal on the sinus’s.
Otherwise worked the couch for much of the day with a few naps. Feeling better this morning, less head pressure thanks @shaneinga
Resting HR64 - need to see that trend down, likely rest tomorrow too, and plan for bjj wed.
Oh, paid a deposit on new work ute too (After testing driving a number of options), Ford Ranger wildtrack. Due for delivery in about a month!
When you get it - pictures or it didn’t happen! lol
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better today!

07.08.2024 (6am morning session)
BJJ 1hr, training (al levels class).
-Side control escapes, technique work. Solid technique rolls for much of the session, single roll with coloured belt. Went slower, pretty much impossible to get in close against coloured belts (he pulled guard). Copped an ankle lock, then tried to work single leg-X, and spent much of the time working getting out of side control with him. Had to leave early for work mtg but a good session.
-thanks @QuadQueen there will be pics. Next month once it arrives…!
How did it feeling training at 6am? I ran a 6am class on Friday mornings for a few months many years ago. Took some getting used to. In Seattle, it was always dark and pretty cold at that time of the morning when we started training ,
@burien_top_team it’s great for me. I’m either getting up early for gym or bjj. After work sessions don’t work well with family time and dad duties. I’d like to attend the evening sessions alas it’s not happening!
Plus the classes are smaller so more one on one time with the coach. We only have 3-5 people attend early mornings, compared to 15-25 sometimes in evening beginner classes.
Defo fresh (was frosty and zero degrees C this am) in the mornings - and atm it’s well before sunrise too. Warm up with socks and hoodie as rqd!

09.08.2024 (6am morning session)
BJJ 1hr, training (al levels class).
-Mount escapes, framing the hips. Shrimping, bridge & roll work.
-just 3x of us and coach doesn’t roll so only had two 5min rolls. Held my own in first roll against usual partner, but J submitted me a number of times in 2nd roll - however brought in some good learnings from mount escapes.
Doesn’t roll in general?
Rarely rolls with us beginners. He’ll defo roll in evening advanced classes against coloured belts (I’ve only attended a few of those classes). Even if he allowed us to work some technical stuff as the odd one out, it’d help. I might mention it to him next time.
Just curious. Everyone teaches grappling differently, and some folks are quite particular about their approach.
