Like it? I love it! Really sounds like a tremendous session. There is just something special about how it feels after a good hour of training grappling.
Sorry to hear you are under the weather my friend. Must be getting cooler there if is getting warmer here. That’s usually when the crud starts going around… Enjoy the rest!

-just a nagging throat that seems to have subsided @TM79 but yep it was almost freezing yesterday am, coldest morning of the year (1 deg C), however the days are very nice, warm and sunny at the moment. I’m getting better at resting in lieu of pushing through - older and maybe wiser?
-was a great session indeed @burien_top_team certainly helped being up against similar inexperienced opponents.
Nice looking session! Wow, I didn’t even know it got that cold in Australia. My brother and sister in law live in Brisbane and all they ever talk about is how it feels like Florida. Glad you are on the mend my friend!
We’re in a valley just the other side of the Adelaide Hills (central south zone in Australia), so when it’s cold, it sits in the valley = frosts, mist/low cloud. However once it gets to mid morning the cloud usually clears up and it’s blue sky and cracking days. No snow, but occasional hail though.
We’d get to maybe -3 to -5 deg C in those frosty spring nights/early mornings, and winter tends to be rainy/wet and around 5 to 10 deg C overnight.
Brisbane weather definitely more tropical being up north in the country, so not much cold weather, plenty of humidity, summer rains etc.
Good session, working more basic drills on getting to side control. Plenty of 5min specific training blocks with various partners, side control, mount, escape attempts from seatbelt/back.
Main grappling bouts - tapped out plenty of times against advanced guys, but stayed in the bout for longer.
Dominated a fellow similar experienced guy at the end, wore him down over the 5mins, finally got to his back and was maybe 15seconds from nailing the rear choke when the buzzer went.
Shoulder sore but hoping extra tut work in the gym is helping it.
BJJ 1hr, training and working half butterfly guard attacking and defensive moves. Steeper learning curve on these morning sessions with the advanced guys.
-good session, getting destroyed by the advanced guys - but in a good way. held my own and getting more comfortable being in close. Only tapped out a few times.
-regional travel yesterday for work. Up to Whyalla for site inspection. 430am wake up for airport 630am flight. Home by 8pm, missed evening BJJ class but made up for it this am. Hit 10k steps easily just during travel and walking the worksite. (site pic below - cracking day, blue skies 20deg C)
Sounds like hard work. Be mindful of the volume and recovery. For me, it seems like the muscles are often willing but the tendons and connective tissue, sometimes not so much …
Heavy Conditioning
Airdyne
2mins on, 1min off for 20mins, 192cals (PR?!)
Then foam rolling
Dreadmill
15mins cruise
-bjj tonight
-been far too long since some conditioning work, awful but got it done
-yep some definite doms/soreness in the shoulders this am @burien_top_team but that should improve as the day unfolds. Considering i’m using mainly 3 4 and 5kg DB’s it’s brutal just given the extended TUT.
BJJ 1hr, training and working escape from opponent on our backs, getting head/shoulders onto the ground etc.
Good 4x 5min rolling sessions at end. Conditioning effort to get thru went thru the roof. Haven’t been that gassed in years. Somehow started getting out of guillotines against advanced guys, almost locked a guillotine in against a mid level chap. submitted plenty of times, but definitely improving, countering and shrimping out helped me a number of times @burien_top_team , yay.

-resting HR60, time to get that trending back down. More conditioning the key.
-BW65kg steady
Carries
Twin 20kg KB x 150ish, 160ish, 150 ish paces (3 rounds)
then
25kg sandbag and single 20kg KGB for 80ish paces each side x1 round
-sore and tired, just some simple carries till the grip gave way. Sandbag on shoulders don’t work well with ear buds… first world problem. 25kg is the heaviest we have the gym, defo need some bigger versions.
-15k steps yest, and helped brother in law move a piano from house up onto trailer. Good bit of safe lifting, we did it easily in the end.
Heavy Conditioning

-squats feeling heavy now i’ve dropped some weight (and likely a little strength maybe) @TM79 but recovery is also getting tested. More sleep always required!
