Rapid Fat Loss vs. V-Diet

Ok, guys. Heres a bit of a situation. I just weighed myself. I’m 179lbs. I haven’t been 179 lbs in over a year. Problem is, I’m a softer/fatter 179 than I was at 185. I think I’m losing way too quickly here, honestly. I was thinking about taking a diet break tonight and tomorrow. What are your thoughts?[/quote]

Have you considered the “softer/fatter” feel and look is due to glycogen depletion? To me it appears you’re a mesomorph and can freakily diet up or down at the drop of a hat. It really comes down to your own personal feelings about muscle loss.

I remember reading that weight loss is optimal around a ratio of 3lbs of fat per pound of muscle. A PSMF like Rapid Fat Loss stresses undertraining (lifting 2X’s a week, 3-4 days of LOW intensity cardio) and training for strength retention rather than LBM.

Maybe it’s time to lower the volume and increase the weight/intensity in the gym? Muscle memory is definitely there though man…you can gain it back when you choose if you indeed lose some gunnage.

This MIGHT not be your case, but it’s something to consider.

When you first start going low-carb, you lose a lot of subcutaneous water. This water makes your fat feel firmer and harder.

When you drop your carbs, the fat gets squishy, since there is less water “holding” it in place.

Then you deplete your muscles with glycogen. So you look flat.

All of this makes you look skinny fat.

When, in reality, it’s just that your muscles are flat and your fluid volume is low, thus having your fat feel “sloppier” and “squishy.”

Well I decided to refeed tonight before I hit the bed. I’ve already eaten 1.5 Large 2-topping Dominos pies. I’m eye balling this ice cream in my freezer right now. I may just keep stuffing my face tonight into tomorrow morning.

I did consider it was a flatter 179 due to glycogen depletion, but I am honestly fatter. Not much fatter, but I am. My lower torso is definitly holding more flab then usual. I’m not too concerned though. I’m gonna have my refeed (for how ever long I decide) then get back on to my PSMF/junk food diet and keep losing weight. I’m very curious to see what happens.

Even if I have some muscle loss, I know that I will regain it VERY quickly when I up start my bulk.

Yeah, this is definitly something I thought could be possible. I’ll see how I look tomorrow when I fill out more.

CL this is something I have to keep reminding myself of during this PSMF cycle. I was 5 lbs heavier and much fuller just a week ago. It’s amazing how visibly your physique can change from varying macro breakdowns. Given a low-ish body fat, of course.

Ok dudes. 211 lbs on the 20th. Life was rich.

188 lbs on the 28th.

Thats about 23 lbs dropped in 9 days. Today I weighed in at 179 lbs and appear leaner than the pic above.

I am picturing elusive in some Tales From the Crypt story line where he can’t stop refeeding; eats furniture, his neighbors, his bball shoes and then his own limbs.

Dude, I am seriously considering flying out to NY sometime and just to refeed with you. I would be honored.

Actually at one point during the diet, I almost wanted to quit because I was starting to look skinny-fat. But I stuck with it. I actually looked my best two weeks after the diet was over.

Brick you did 4 weeks as a cat 2 right? I am absolutely trashed on day 7 this morning as a cat 1. I probably will only have enough energy for 1 full body workout this week and concentrate on getting enough protein. I’m going to the beach today and I look realllllly skinny fat haha…no abs unless I nearly squeeze out a stink pickle flexing

That definitely looks more like bloat than fat by the way your gut’s protruding. Definitely holding a ton of water then. Also the reason you were able to drop so much weight on a PSMF.

I’m having trouble uploading the 188lbs pic.

Heres attempt #4

jesus, you dropped 23 lbs in 9 days? lol

Yeah. lol. I was 186 this morning after my refeed last night. I’m gonna have some more cheat meals today and get back on the wagon tomorrow.

That is just craziness. Were you pushing your stomach out in your first pic?

Nope. I was just standing relaxed. I wasn’t** doing anything to try to emphasize my weight or anything.

I took that pic the day I realized/decided that I was getting sloppy. I knew I would make a strong push to get leaner again and I would** use that pic as some sort of a progress pic. Plus, I never really let myself go like that and thought it’d be cool to have a pic to remember it.

I just never thought I would get back to my weight in 9-10 days.

**edit.

Well you look damn good and as a girl I don’t even have to say “no homo”

Well, thank you. All I had to do was starve myself and do endless amounts of hours of exercise.

I think I’m going to do another 5-7 days of my custom PSMF and then get back into my typical carb cycle.

So are you with me on the low energy levels on the PSMF? V-Diet wasn’t even as bad as this and that was 3X’s a week workout! It’s tough for me to put one foot in front of the other sometimes. However, you’re a freak and probably do at least 45 min of cardio and 5 lifting sessions a week over 9 days on 1,200 kcal with no problem lol!

On my 1,000cal days I do 2 hours of cardio and about 60-80mins of lifting. Thats about 5-6 days a week. On the days I play ball, I ate up to 2,200cals but lifted and played about 5 hours of full court pick up ball. My energy levels were lower, but not LOW. I was still very functional and alert. Towards the end of my Bball days I did notice some extreme fatigue. Nothing too bad though, lol. I was just INSANELY hungry all day.
