Rapid Fat Loss vs. V-Diet

I’m just saying that with that amount of calories (~1500, for a 180 lean male, who does regular exercise) it’s pretty much the BWx8 in the get shredded diet of John Berardi. The extra carbs (50g) are allowed in the book to maintain intensity in the weight training.

So i think there are 2 options:

1: go with a lower calorie intake.

2: transfer some of the kcals to fat so your body don’t get primed to burn protein as energy.

Obviusly, your body is always burning a mix of the 3 macronutrients, but the body will adapt to burn protein as his “main” energy source if you give him just protein. Thus it will be easier for your body turn skeletal muscle (protein) for energy when needed, since it is adapted to use protein as his main energy source.

And i’m not trying to make this kind of diet less credible, i think it should work well on a real protein sparring fasting, but in the example i mentioned, it makes much more sense to approach that i gave. Which is bassicly a get shredded diet with your BWx8 or so.

Hmm didn’t Mighty Stu did something like that before his show?
Then go try what you want on yourself or people you advise.

And even more recently my weight has stagnated so im thinking about just working out like I would on a bulk 2x a day 4-5 times a day since i cant see myself lowering my calores any more. In terms of energy not really bad i feel more so in a fog then i usually am :P.

Any Ideas on what to do? I was thinking about replacing 2 of the real food meals with protein shakes.

How many calories are you eating on the RFL diet and how long are you on it?
I guess you could say I have fully on it for about 2 weeks. And calorie wise I have been aiming to ingest about 1000-1200. And i would say about the last 4 days have been stagnation

I see where your logic is coming from as I’ve been following a high fat cyclical diet for over a year but I would have though that the short nature of this type of diet would mitigate the adaption process/problems you’ve mentioned because as others have said in this thread, it’s a ‘crash course’ and not a long term dieting strategy?

You lost NINE pounds in 2 weeks and want to quit!

You know, I’m completely fucking confused by people on this board at this point, but I’m thankful to them for showing me why so many approaches NEVER work!

It’s NOT because of the approaches; it’s because of people doing dumb shit!

Who told you to weight yourself every fucking day?

After carbups or cheat meals, your bodyweight might take a few days to drop again. And you lost 1.5 inches off your waist and 9 pounds all because of water. Yeah, sure. In 2 weeks, you can lose 4 to 6 pounds of fat on the diet, depending on how fat you are. 4 pounds of fat lost in 2 weeks is a considerable amount. How the hell would you know what would happen in 4 to 6 weeks because you stagnated for a measly 4 days AFTER losing NINE pounds in 2 weeks. You don’t lose weight in a linear fashion, even on a PSMF.

If you and the other guy wanna fuck around with the diet, go ahead.

Did you use cheat meals and/or carbups.

And I find it near impossible for someone to not continue to lose with 1,000 calories. Even tiny women can lose some weight on that.

I don’t know…I just follow what the diet calls for, which equal RESULTS!

Sure, you are going to stagnate, but so what…stick with it!!! Having said that, I’m starting my 3rd(and probably LAST) round tomorrow!!

And the Get Shredded Diet is an approach to be used for 6 to 12 weeks, not 2 to 6 weeks as prescribed here.

So who started today? And who is still going at it?

Today is day 1 of round 3 for me! I only put on 3.5lbs during my 12 day diet break…probably all water!

Eating my last meal of the day on day 2 now.

I’m eating about 1000 calories a day of chicken breast, egg white, salmon, whey/casein, broccoli, cucumber, tomatoes and a lil fish oil.

It’s been quite ok so far and since some water have left the body I look a lot leaner already. Hunger is not too bad.

I know from experience I do well on very little carbs so that doesn’t bother me much. But I am looking forward to a carb up in the future with lots of oatmeal, banana and rice.

Gonna weigh myself on friday morning and see what is what. Hopefully I’ll be satisfied with only 2 weeks on this.

anyone still hanging in there?

I’ll be weighing in tomorrow am! And then having some FOOOOOD! :stuck_out_tongue:

I am on my third day as a category 1 and have had no problems with it so far. One question I have is regarding carbs in veggies. Some people have said they are free others say count them, what have you all been doing? I read somewhere that Lyle himself said that it is possible to eat to many veggies.

He wasn’t talking about leafy greens or something like broccoli.

I can only take “too many” as meaning an amount that impedes your intake of other essentials (like protein) by virtue of making you so full.

James- thats if you are a 130lb person, for example, trying to lose the last 5-10lbs…
dont go eating heads of cauliflower and bags of brussel sprouts! :stuck_out_tongue:

I decided to ween off dieting for awhile …been doing it since July!

I am thankful for finding RFL, and know that I can use it to fall back on at a later time, if need be…

Im going to spend the rest of December eating clean, and adding more cardio back in! My conditioning SUCKS right now…

In Jan Im going to start 5/3/1, (you may have heard of it)
I’m also going to do some carb cycling.

We’ll see how things are looking towards the spring…but if Im lean enough I may just do a round of Berardi’s ‘get shredded.’ That sounds fun! :stuck_out_tongue:

GL to all!! Just stick to it…In total I have lost 30lbs since August!

Hi i used the RFL to come down.

I just bought it, downloaded it and did it.

Simple as ^^

Tis a great way to do things, very VERY simple i mean you can’t possibly do it wrong.

V-Diet i wouldn’t do drinking shakes all day not my thing !

Though i am contemplating doing the Anaconda Protocall … we shall see.

He did say that, but it’s a concern amongst those who have VERY low caloric intakes on the diet, like 400 calories for a small woman. Someone like that can, out of big hunger, might consume about 200 calories from veggies per day (7 servings). That’s a 50% increase in caloric intake. However, a guy who needs 1,000 to 1,300 calories doesn’t have to worry, because 200 calories will be less substantial.

Basically what he said, unless you are a tiny female, then veggies i wouldn’t be to worried about unless you were a rabbit in a past life

Solid thread, Brick. I’m currently in the process of leaning out, hoping to get my bulk on by January (should I feel lean enough). This thread got me onto the RFL bandwagon and it’s going great.

Still putting cream in my coffee, but fuck it, it’s finals. Everything else is dialed in and it’s pretty damn nice to see progress with the scale, mirror, and tape measurer on a frequent, consistent basis.

Lifts are still going up, waist size is going down (I kinda forgot I had abs for a year or two), so I might just play this to the bone and see how far I can take it.
