Rack Chins!

I agree with that statement that no exercise is best! I meant best for lat contraction and isolation but the different angle and stimulus rack chins provide will build muscle in areas reg chins wont so yup, I do agree that rotating exercises is best so really wasnt meant as a rack chin bash lol! I was only bashing wide grip pullups done with too much momentum(poor form)as that was a great way to get myself injured ha!

I think of these movements in terms of elbow position. Moving the elbows down and out will hit the teres - any type of vertical pull with a wide grip. Moving the elbows down to the front (think a hs/nautilus pullover motion, close neutral grip pulldown, rows to the hip) will hit the lats.

I love rack chins but there is no one in the gym willing to help me place the plates in my lap, so unfortunately they are out of my exercise selection…[/quote]

Delta, is there a way you can do them in the Smith Machine… lowering the bar to a point where your butt touches barely the ground? Maybe something like that?

OR THIS:

EDIT: HA! I just realized that’s our own Ben Bruno!

I’m no Delta, but I’ve had great success doing these in the Smith Machine, high or low-bar (haha, sounds like squats.)

Also, for convenience purposes, I’ve also found heavy fixed EZ Bars to be a Godsend when it comes to rack chins, getting to some pretty good, heavy weights and not having to worry about that awkward bro look when you ask someone to place plates / dumbbell in your lap.
