I’m in. 240 touch and go, close grip, very easy. Want 300 by year’s end. ME benching next week…
I’m in if its still running best lift to date 265 t&g @148
thinking i may try to jump up to 160ish and get 300+
Late to the party got 235x8 and a 250 pause pretty easy, so basically what I am saying is I have no idea what I even bench right now lol.
Ancient times bump.
Have any of the original posters got their 300lb yet?
I’m in for this; bench has always been a weak lift for me, as I have never seriously trained it… and I’m desperate to pass my housemate who is sitting 10kgs ahead of me.
Close grip benching here. Previous best was 105kg / 231lb, ten weeks ago.
I’ve started doing 50 dips every Monday as part of my Full Body Training 5/3/1 routine. I’m hoping these will help push my OHP (70kg/154lb) and BP into decent numbers.
a
I did… then I did some bad programming and hurt my shoulder… so I’m back at 275.

Ouch, what did you do exactly?

Haha yeah. I only started “properly” training powerlifts mid-last year, and prior to that every time I max benched with a wide grip I stuffed my RC.
Since I switched to a close grip (shoulder width in my case) bench and a thumbless grip OHP I’ve had no issues whatsoever - apart from being weak, of course!
I did the 5/3/1 powerlifting with some stupid twists of my own for 6 months. I did the heavy singles every other week instead of waiting till 8 weeks out from doing my maxes. Also, I didn’t narrow my grip like Wendler suggests in the book.
I’m at 275 with pause, 295 one board which both happened a month or two ago
I’ll get in on this, my current bench is at 255.
Here’s how things look right now. Hit 285 in February and 255x4 in March. Switched gyms in April and my bench has seemed to be chronically dreadful since then. Way overdue for that 300 bench…although I will say that I’m trying to focus on push pressing right now, and benching hasn’t been trained fresh in a while now.
Definitely in. I got 250 paused 2 weeks ago. My meets in 5 weeks and if i can hit 250 again it will be a state record for teen 1 181 Michigan Usapl. After using 5 3 1 for my meet im gonna train Westside for a while and see what happens.
I’m in. Best competition bench 120kg, last meet 115kg
Another meet in 1-1.5 months.
I’ll throw my name in the hat.
In April I did 275, then backed off bench for about a month. Last week I did 245 x 4, touch and go style.
I’m in. Current max 260x1(bw of 175). Started 5/3/1(3 days/week) 3 weeks ago. Will retest after 3 cycles which will be in another 13 weeks.
Did 275x2 wide grip the other day. Hoping for 285x2 next wide grip bench day. Would like my first >300 bench to be the whole 315 though.
I’m in. Hit 120kg (264 pounds) for touch and go today. Pressing strength is going up rapidly as of now (noob gains ftw lol).

Yeah it’s bittersweet how fast I’m progressing to a 315 bench. Once I get there it’ll be slow moving to 350, and then in a year or so, 405 will happen. Then from then on I gotta get fucking serious.

It’s only as slow as you allow it to be
