Race to 800 Anyone?

Jesus, i thought i was hard cuz i am one of the only guys to squat 405 properly with just a belt. Apparently i have a little work… lol. Nice lift squirt! Keep it up dude

Thanks man. Should be back in full gear this week. May stay straps down. We will see what falls

I don’t mean to hijack the thread here, just had a couple of questions for you guys who are pushing some good numbers-

When you’re training for an equipped meet, how do you cycle your equipment use? I ask because some guys would NEVER use their gear until the last few weeks before a meet and then they’d hop in equipment, try to master it and go compete…But then we’ve got guys like Metal Militia for example who were wearing their bench shirts EVERY week and they were producing huge benchers doing it.

I’m always in a crappy pair of briefs on squat day. When I’m doing a regular squat, I’ll occasionally suit up but I almost never wrap my knees…just wondering where this all fits in because I’ve never received any good coaching on my squat.

I’m in.

My best is 725lbs. I hope to hit 800 at my next meet in March

Jesus, I better get moving. Best competition squat was a raw 699.

Fuck you hit 699 raw?
Then you will kill 800 single ply, unless your suit is way too loose, or a crappy suit, or you are one of the select few guys who doesn’t get a lot from gear.

haha on a side note, there is a guy I train with that has an EASY 740 competition raw squat, and only hit 800 in multi ply briefs, and a 2 ply canvas suit haha, and it was gear that fit well too…

How’s everybody’s training going? I went 600 in briefs and kneewraps Thursday. Going 625 (actually the closest to that in kilograms) next week.

Here’s my most recent training. I realize it’s high, I’m just trying to get my gear broken in. I plan to open at 800 in my next meet (which will be a meet PR in itself, I haven’t competed multiply for a while)

I won’t be competing again until May but i’m in. I missed an attempt at 817 last year at nationals (note to self: don’t cut 20lbs if you can only get 10 back on) and with how training’s been going I’m hoping to open at or above that mark and redeem myself this year.

Multiply cheater gear whore btw

I am most definitely a gear whore, but I hit a raw meet about once a year

Yea you would think that. It went from 699 to 45 in about 3 seconds 2 years ago. I broke my back. I am just now getting my strength back in the squat.

Who gives a shit about the gear used. It doesnt make 800lbs any lighter ON YOUR FUCKING BACK. I’ve still got a couple weeks before I do any real squatting again. I want an 800 in single ply by the end of this year.

The race is on… regardless of what you are wearing when you get it.[/quote

No, but easier to squat? What the fuck, I see these stupid comments from you all the time, why?

What’s your best multi-ply squat? How much different is it than your single-ply squat?

this is why I do not follow geared PL anymore. too confusing. I can post numbers for maxes I did with nothing, briefs, belt only, belt and wraps, single ply, multiply, multiply with briefs, etc., just makes my
head hurt.

fact is it does matter what kind of gear you use or do not use, monolift vs walking out…blah blah.

I got out of the game 15 years ago and now I only follow the RAW numbers, or the deadlifts, because of all the variables.

so everybody stop quantifying your lifts with what gear etc. on this thread. it is a race to 800, work hard, post and have fun with it…don’t worry who wears what when, like I said, this thread is just for fun.

Exactly, however, for those of us who know how different gear changes numbers, hearing how everyone is doing in certain gear is a good indicator of their numbers in full gear…

Here are my squats from the other day, I went 735, 775, 800, but I think the 775 was the best one, the 735 was probably a touch high, and the 800 is iffy, but with some of the lifts that have passed lately may be good
haha

Let me know what you guys think, I doubt the guys in on this contest will vote this as a good lift. Felt easy though, and I will smash it, to depth, at the meet in a few weeks.

thats some awesome lifting shame about those douchebags standing behind you, people are so rude…

amen.

well, this is an 800+ deadlift, not a squat, but I have to post this somewhere… lol. this is my friend Dan Harrison, he’s an amateur strongman, not a powerlifter, so he can hitch all he wants. this is beltless, w/ straps.

You mean the spotters? They are supposed to be there…
