I just want a quick review of my cutting diet. Been on it for four weeks and have lost around 6-8lbs. Ive kept carbs below 100g a day and the only things I have been eating include: Eggs, Oatmeal(morning), blueberries, chicken, broccoli, steak, almonds, peanut butter, cottage cheese, and orange juice, protein powder.
Meal 1:
4 eggs, 1 cup Orange juice, oatmeal packet
Meal 2:
Almonds, Cottage cheese
Meal 3:
Chicken or steak and broccoli
Meal 4:
Almonds, Protein shake
Meal6:
Chicken or steak and broccoli
Meal 7:
2 tbsp peanut butter + cottage cheese
Sounds like you are making progress. How is your strength? If your not losing any strength than I’d say you are doing great. Personally I’d replace orange juice with an orange.
Strength hasnt gone down as far as I can tell other than those bad days at the gym where one just feels a little tired. I train 5x5 for my first exercise then around 3-4x8-12 for my others. What are some signs that my calories intake is TOO low? I have always heard that when cutting you might lose muscle but Ive always imagined that its harder to lose muscle going from 12%-9% then it is going from 9-6or5%. I think the whole losing muscle thing is a little too exaggerated. What is your thoughts on that?
I too would exchange the juice for an actual orange, and make sure your oatmeal packet isn’t flavored. Just add some chocolate protein and some cinnamon to the oats and you’re good to go.
My advice is to not become carb-phobic. Theres nothing wrong with additional fruits and veggies, plus they may increase your performance in the gym. Personally, the low carb/high fat diet doesnt work as well for me, so don’t be afraid to switch it up if things start to stall.
I prefer moderate carbs, high protein, moderate fat(mostly coming from flax seeds, fish oils, greek yogurt, and beef)

Some signs of calorie intake being too low would be losing lots of strength, constantly feeling tired and lethargic, losing a large amount of weight quickly (assuming someone is not obese).
It sounds like you are doing good, keep up the good work.
