Ok, for the past few months on a gaining phase I’ve been taking about 400g carbs on training days, give or take.
Anyway, after a month or so, I started using ALA (generic). About 200mg per ~50g carbs. So I’d usually take 200 mg with 3 meals and 400mg with the bigger carb meal of the day.
Now, last night I bought some R-LA. I’m assuming that’s r-ALA.
Here’s what I did today and how I felt. lol
Meal 1: ~ 60g carb, 50g protein, 15g fat
100mg R-LA
Training Shake: 30g carbs (Waxy Maize), 25g whey
About 45 minutes after training:
150g carb, 50 g whey
200mg R-LA
So, I had the big carb meal around 12:30 this afternoon. At around 3pm I was in class and started to feel cold shivers, and I felt a bit light headed (just a bit) and most noticeably weak and uncoordinated, like writing with accuracy was physically difficult. Nothing serious, but noticeable. I reckon this was hypoglycemia?
I was just curious though. I’ve heard that 100mg R-LA is ~ equivalent to 200mg ALA. So my 200mg dose of R-LA is equivalent to my 400mg ALA. If that’s the case, howcome my 200mg R-LA got me all hypo, whereas 400mg ALA doesn’t have any physical effect?

not sure if it’s proven but some people believe the s-isomers counter act the r-isomers
check the label it should say “r-ala… 100mg”[/quote]
you’re right on.
