Just my 2 cents, Veruvius, but you should have a much easier time by following CW’s stuff as he avoids failure. THIS was a key in improving my results and keeping me from catching colds etc… Your story is much like mine used to be. As a rough suggestion, do a 4-6 week stint of a CW program or EDT, then take a week off. During this time, if you are trying to gain mass, continue to eat your usual amount and do some fun athletic activities at a very low intensity. Shoot some hoops, take some walks, or ride a bike…something easy but active. I personally like to sometimes knock all my weights down to about 60% of my previous week’s poundages and do close to the same number of reps. Say you ended TBT with 250 for 4-5x5 on the bench. Then do only 150 for 4 sets of 5. You can also juxtapose this and keep your weight the same and drop the reps by about 50%. Do 250 for 3-5 sets of 2 reps of a modeate pace to allow for acitve recovery. Keeping the pace moderate instead of trying to accelerate the concentric will prevent you from accidentally putting too much stimulation on the IIB’s again. Either way, just reduce workload by 40-50% and take it easy…just *“grease the groove.” ![]()

The off week and the avoidance of failure have done wonders for what I began to think was an immune disorder of some type for me. Try them out. I like every 4-6 weeks, but some can handle 8+ weeks straight, while others may need only 3 weeks as per Jack Reape. Just consider that Jack is usually employing very rapid concentrics (or the attempt of such) and often “dances” with high RM’s as he is a powelifter. This has a tendency to work the CNS a bit harder so he goes a shorter cycle of on/off.
Best,

Hey, just want to say I’ve used TBT and WM and have gotten great results. My next program will be another one of yours. I’m trying to gain as much mass as possible (I’m 6’2, just dropped to 160 from not lifting), but every time I make good gains, I get sick or injured and have to lay off the weights. I’m planning on gaining at least 20 lbs this summer (I’ve gotten about 8 in a month before), but also seriously training martial arts everyday.
I’m hoping adequate nutrition will keep me in the game, but do you think thats realistic? Is there something I can do to keep gaining instead of going forward then back?[/quote]
