Question Regarding Supplements

Hey Coach:

Don’t know if you answered this already (there are a lot of threads going on in this forum), but do you have any thoughts/experience with Gener8’s Vitargo? I’ve heard some good things and am wondering if it is deserving of it’s growing hype.

(I realize that this is a competitive product to Surge so if you cannot answer on this site I fully understand).

Thanks

Hey CT Thanks for the info on Flameout and FA3. I was wondering what multivitamin you used because there is so many poor ones and when Biotest is going to have a multivitamin?

Hey CT, was hoping to get your input on using something like glycerol before a photoshoot to help increase fullness/vascualrity?

If so, what would be a good dosage/timing protocol?

Thanks for your input.

I’ve used it before… heck, read my article “Shredded in 6 days” for an idea how I use glycerol.

But this year I actually used Workout Fuel and Finibars to load my bodybuilding athletes, however the timing must be just right to avoid water retention.

Thanks, I will check out the article. Would you mind sharing your Workout Fuel/Finibar protocol? What does would you use for a female, around 115 pounds? The shoot is at 3 p.m.

The Finibars constitute most of the carb-up. I had my athletes take 2 of them, every hour from 7pm (end of weigh-ins) to 11pm the day before the contest (to peak in the morning).

The next morning, the decision (breakfast) is made based on look. If the individual is perfect, we’d go with a light breakfast with no more than 20g of carbs.

If the individual was flat we’d have 1 or 2 Finibars with some pancakes.

If the individual was retaining water we’d only have protein and take an epsom salt bath 2-3 hours prior to the contest (which would have been a problem since it would have removed some of the pro tan skin tint).

For a 115lbs woman I’d cut everything in half

Even if it is a product SOMEWHAT in competition with some of Biotest’s products I would still use it if I felt that it is superior to the options I have. And simply put, it is inferior to what I have. It’s only carbs… a good carb though as it has positive partitioning effects (pulling carbs and water into the muscle) and doesn’t cause stomach distress.

But if you compare it to WORKOUT FUEL it is inferior because, although vitargo is a good carb, rice oligodextrin and palatinose (in the right ratio) are superior. Plus WORKOUT FUEL has leucine, beta-alanine, phosphates to help with hydration, etc.

If you compare is to SURGE RECOVERY, I still would opt for the recovery which also contains whey hydrolysate and BCAAs.

Hi Thib,

Do you have any supplement recomendations to avoid colds/flus for a strength coach? I know gyms are rampant with germs and was wondering how you avoid coming down with something during times of hard training and work stress.

Thanks!

Coach

Using HOT-ROX Extreme only for 2 weeks, what is your intake recomendation? I don’t feel stimulant feelings and I’m taking 3 upon awaking and 3 caps at mid day.

How can I rotate it? 2 weeks on and 1 week off?

Thanks

CT-

What are your thoughts on Carbolin 19?, I don’t really see too much conversation about it so i was just wondering if you think it’s worth taking during a lean mass gaining phase as an addition to your periworkout protocol?

Thanks,
Darian

Coach,

Any thoughts on Rhaponticum Excellence offered on Poloquin Performance? Seems interesting.

Thanks,

Greg

Just because you don’t feel stimulated doesn’t mean that there is no effect on the adrenal glands taking place, if anything it might actually show that your adrenal glands are already overused.

I recommend cycling off of stimulants after 10-14 days of use. 1 week off would be the absolute minimum I would recommend.

How much coffe do you usually take? I read the hearth problem of Thibaudeau and it was really interesting, because I have also one valve bigger than normal, so I get some time a reflux that shoot up my heart rate.
I found that it happens more under big stress (mental or phisical) or with coffe. Just one cup of coffe and I get this problem some 6-8 hours latter when I get relaxed in sofa or bed.

So now I am very afraid of caffeine, taurine doesn’t make me problems. Do you know Christian which estimulants are saffer to use?
Thanks.

Hey CT-

I normally eat a complete meal(F+P+C) a couple hours before a workout. Alpha-GPC in the window before my workout. After my stomach feels empty, I take about 1/2 cup(18g protein) Surge Recovery pre-workout. I’m about to start using Surge Workout Fuel this week. Should I stop taking the Surge Recovery pre-workout? Should I still take Surge Recovery post-workout, but with some Surge Workout Fuel mixed in?

Thanks in advance

Christian, (or anyone) I’m hoping my 8th time’s a charm in this forum  lol

In general, would a 150 lb athlete be able to get by with smaller doses of a product (just like they’d require less protein/calorie intake daily)? Does it matter what type of supplement it is?

For example if you recommend 2 caps of Alpha-GPC before training and 2 scoops of SWF, might they get by with 1 cap and 1.5 scoops? I’m asking due to budget constraints and if, for example, 1 cap of Alpha-GPC isnt going to be effective I’ll prob just opt for more of the basics.
In general though I hope I’m lucky enough to get by with a little less of everything

Obviously everyone is different and individual experimentation is necessary; but on a broad level I’d like to hear your take.

(glass half full = my shortness as an economic advantage)

Thank you!

Regards,
-Dan

Common sense says that it depends on the supplement and its mode of action.

Have you heard of the supplement: Forskolin, 10 Mg, is it many used for fat lose and what other benefits does this supplement have or is it junk? Thank for your time!!

Coach,

I have recently added a 30gram L-glutamine only ‘shake’ immediately post workout for glycogen replenishment instead of eating carbs later in the evening after I train.
Q: If I’m 210 pounds, could I use more than that? If so, one dose or in divided doses?
Q: Is there a time window post workout that I want to be ingesting it all in?

  • I follow your para workout protocol so I get tons of carbs before and during my workouts…

Thanks heaps,
Pete

CT, what is your opinion on Seren Oil for fat loss/muscle retention?

Christian

Months ago you recommended rotate boosts testosterone supps for 10-14 days. Alpha Male and Androgen Excellence were your recommendations. I picked Alpha Male, but I don’t find Androgen Excellence. The only one is Androgen Synergy in EU store. I don’t know if the same is.
If not, what is your current recommendation to rotate with Alpha Male? I mean with Poliquin’s supplements.

Am I right if I take 4 tablets of Alpha Male with supper? I take 3 tabs of REZ V first thing in the morning too.

Thanks
