Question on Dips

I was wondering if it would be ok to do dips if the bar I was gripping was on maybe a 10 to 15 degree slant, either inclined or declined. Also could you do a dip with a grip where your palms were facing you.

Thanks, Jon

How could you do a dip with your palms facing you? Let me know if I’m overlooking something.

Refer to thread “Dips w/ a Full ROM” by Joel Marion.
Not sure about the palms facing you. Are you talking about the bar being vertical instead of perpendicular??

Its kinda hard to explain the palms facing you thing, say you had a pull up bar that was at a lower level. Now imagine taking a big piece out of the middle of the bar so that you had two pull up bars a certain distance away from each other. Now grip onto both bars with a grip where your palms were facing your direction and dip in between them. I have never seen them done this way, but oddly enough I have a place in my house to do this.

it’s not palms facing you, but rather palms flat against the bar, knuckles facing forward.

Yeah thats right, anyway is there any reason to even bother to do it this way, I’m sure if it was really effective it would already be in use.

It will hit your tri’s in a different manner, hitting a different head(s)

just make sure your elbows dont go aoutward to much as it makes the upper arm abduct behind the shoulder joint - a risky thing for your shoulder.
