Question about deadspace syringes

I have reduced deadspace syringes, and I use a yellow 31g needle. After I inject what is displayed as 0.2mls on the syringe, I notice there is about 0.05mls left in the needle. Does the syringe take this into account when I draw up?

E.g if I draw 0.2mls to inject, does the syringe draw more to account for the amount left in the needle deadspace? Do I get a 0.2ml dose, or am I getting 0.15mls? It’s making my head hurt thinking about it.

Don’t think about it. It’s irrelevant.

If you have .05ml deadspace, and you fill to 0.2ml, you really filled to 0.25ml, but only 0.2mL of the oil can be pushed back out.

If you use insulin syringes, there’s even less dead space, but as it’s already been said - it’s irrelevant.

If you wanted way more information than you’ll ever need on the subject…

P.S if you overthink a lot, you may find that keeping lower estrogen levels puts this on pause. At least, it has done so for me anyways.

Correct. This dosage is accurate but the liquid is wasted in small volumes. Hence, no need to over think it.

Thanks, tbh it’s more because my provider expects my prescription to last longer than it is, and it is a battle to get it refilled and I’m struggling to figure out why it’s running out sooner. It must be because I’m leaving 20% in the needle each time …

Thank you. Yes I certainly overthink a lot… Thanks for the insulin syringe tip.

If you’re truly dosing that small, .2ml. @Andrewgen_Receptors is correct that an Easy Touch style insulin syringe would be best. Thats what I use for my wife’s injections. I would suggest doing the 27ga for easy drawing sake. Waste is almost none existant.

Hey man I just messaged you back BTW. I was in the hospital for a month and haven’t checked my email in awhile.
