No lower back arch to support the weight
my chest is not held up, my head is not held back
hence the fail. I’m posting this as a learning vid of what NOT to do. lol
To add to this, focusing on keeping your elbows down will help you keep your chest up and your upper back tight. I don’t know if this is a recurring problem for you, or if you just happened to do it in your squat fail video. It is a big challenge for me personally and one of those things that I have to always be conscious of and get frequent verbal cues for. Just another thing to add to your mental checklist if it’s not already in there.
I was kinda watching your arms the whole time too (ok and your butt), and I wondered about your wrist alignment. I’m still a total newb when it comes to form, so I may be completely off but I just saw this pic from SS and then watched your video. Is keeping elbows down a part of the wrist positioning as well? I’m sorry if I’m way off, I’m just starting to actually pay attention to form.
i loved the pic and the vid. i don’t know how people used to lift before vids. i guess they did what people told them to. i’m too oppositional for that, though, need to be my own coach at least sometimes. you have amazing hair, too! damn. not only are people much much stronger than me but their hair is so much better!
one day…
glad to hear that you are starting to feel up. i’m not so surprised that you needed a break after the meet. with all the build up hype and then the actual comp it has got to take it out of you. glad to hear that things are feeling a bit better now.
Ah right, this is a workout log too of course. Well I did manage to hit the gym today and it felt good to really push it.
foam roll
retard frogs
bodyweight x 15
wall squats x 10
Squats - cause I’m a hardheaded mofo
bar x 5
95 x 5
115 x 3
135 x 2 - belt at this point
155 x 2
185 x 1
205 - fail WTF!!
195 x 1 - happy with this
210 x 1 -PR! felt a little high but shit it’s still a PR
205 - fail. empty tank and someone was waiting for the only rack in the gym
cable pull throughs
100 x 12
120 x 12
140 x 12 - bitch was hard.
Goodmornings
95 x 8
115 x 5
125 x 5
and for a finisher
squat
135 x 4 - no belt.
called it a day. mixed feelings about this but overall ok. I was trying to bully my way to 225 and that just doesn’t happen for me. the trick, as I’ve learned with the deads, is to max out the heavy stuff. So game plan will be working the 185 x 5 and then hitting over 200lbs again.

Wow, great picture. Amazing legs and “glutes”…
Way to come back with the 210, that’s how to persevere!

decided to move on and do a total upper body anhilation day…

I am already hurting. Downed 10gr of creatine with 32gr of protein post workout. I’m also thinking through the idea of staying off my artificial hormones until december and go on another serious 6 months of eating and lifting to see if it helps. Last time I was having a great time with my bench I was off the hormones and it makes so much sense really…
I wouldn’t be disappointed with the bench if you’ve not done it for a while. Those are pretty respectable numbers!
Coming off the hormones seems like a sound plan. I’m not a fan of them, to be honest. Good luck with the transition.
Problem is I was diagnosed with premature menopause at 17rs of age. Although I feel fine when I’m not on the articicial hormones the Dr. says I need to be on this stuff for life to replace the estrogen I don’t produce in the first place.
Giving myself cycles off the hormones allows my natural state to take over which is very little estrogen and higher amounts of Test: ideal for bulking, strength and mass as I’m sure you guys know.
Dr says I would be at high risk of heart disease, severe osteoporosis and other “old people” disease if I refuse to take the meds over long periods of time. She knows I cycle on and off for a couple of months. Although she doesn’t “like it” we do tests every year and so far she hasn’t had any results to discredit my habit.
I know there was talk about squats and bench in here, but all I remember is AMAZON LEGS! Can you get a PR in Amazon Legs, because if you you got it!
You know your body the best of everyone. The more time I spend with doctors, the less I trust them and the more I see the need for informed choice using doctors as consultants instead of “gods”.
So, when you go off the hormones and your T levels rise, do you then become this well-muscled, shapely-legged, weight-lifting machine that struts around with a half sex-crazed look in her eye that might pounce on her next victim at any moment??
If so, then I vote “yes” to cycling off for a bit.
