Today was a beautiful sunny day - we haven’t had enough of them this month. I was productive and closed a couple of good ones at work and was ready to hit the gym like a boss.
only the weight felt heavy
it was all frustrating
and nothing past parrallel.
fuckery.
left the gym frustrated and in a foul mood. even buying some nom cheese during the groceries did not give me a happy. I’m afraid this is happening at such a bad time.
crapcrapcrapcrapcrap.
I have a master’s in english lit and used to write tons during class inspired by what we read and discussed.
I did model my “crap” pseudo romantic stuff on the classics finding the rehash from Shakespeare, John Milton and others.
My true inspirations were contemporary writers from the 70’s on. I loved discussions of gender, social contruct and expectations. My thesis was on Margeret Atwood’s “Surfacing”, Leonard Cohen’s “Beautiful Losers” and Marian Engel’s “Bear” arguing that “deviant” sexuality was both projected onto and drawn form the natural “wild and untamed” canadian landscape. Basically I was arguing that canadians were naturally “deviant”.
judging from your classical approach this would have rubbed your fur the wrong way ;)
I would have agreed that humans are naturally weak because of their fallen nature. Pointed out that we are able to know this because of Natural Law or the law which is written on all of man’s hearts. Moreover, along with the Church one can die the Great Warrior’s Death and live a humble and holy life. Most writing is very swallow-able, most things are partially correct, as well. I would rather point out the things in which we agree first. This is likely why most people that oppose my beliefs still fancied me.

Just pulled out the qualification standards for my weight group (72kg) for the provincials to see what those looked like…
522.5lbs. No reason why I couldn’t best this.
Verify that with Louis, just send him a quick e-mail to be sure you are looking at the right numbers. Don’t plan on making PRs though. IF one the day, you are feeling it, then go for it on your 3rd attempt. You do not want to bomb in the squats. Open light and tight.
Look at this meet as a gateway for big numbers in the fall at the provincials, get what you need from Ste-Marie to get to the next level. Think of it as the beginning of a marathon, the end is a little less than a year away, at Nationals.
I know this is not an easy thing to do, holding back a tad that is. I bombed in my 3rd meet, trying to beat my provincials total one year. Good luck!
I’ll second this. I don’t know what the qualifiers are for Classic but for equipped for 72 kgs is 277.5 which basically means you need a pulse. By the way, knee sleeves are now allowed for Classic.
All you need is 92.5 squat, 60 bench and 125 deadlift. You shouldn’t even break a sweat.
BC- but wasn’t disagreeing over a nickel part of the fun of university? kind if felt like our own little clash of conceited titans. except we were just a bunch of geeks with agendas.
Greenie -The husband is planing to come to the meet (MIL is still in the hospital…) so he will take pics and this time we shall bring my smaller camera for vids too. Epic faces there will be.
pch2 - thanks! I’ve had it for a couple of years but I still love to pull it out. It has a nice retro feel to it.
Oro - so do not push for glory. go in, do my homework and keep the fire for November. Got ya.
Brute - I’m hoping to prevent this by doing the impossible after the meet - actually following deloads. We shall see if it was my missing key.
I think the bad lift day is nothing to worry about. It’s the worry that will do more harm than just a bad day. The muscle is still there and just as strong(or stronger) as it was the last time you lifted. You’ve squated with great form before too so that’s still there too.
Don’t let it psych you out.

I am, nor was I smart enough to effectively oppose anyone. So, I never tried to argue in the complete opposition. Much easier to see what we have in common and point out what I lack knowledge of and then point out what I know to be true.
Yay meet! Sounds like you’ve got your numbers all figured out you’re totally going to kick major ass. Whats your training plan between now and the meet?
