Quaker Oats Breakfast Squares

These are quite yummy!!

Anyone know the GI for these?

Good or bad ?post workout?

Probably not any worse than a Snickers bar.

I would imagine you are better off with some kind of maltodextrin/dextrose and whey mixture for post-workout.

I haven’t had that stuff, and I would imagine its some kind of prepared bar or something. Anything like that is suspect.

They taste great but did you see how calorically dense they are for such a small oatmeal square…there’s tons of sugar and shitty carbs in those things. While Im no expert, the GI is probably horrible for them b/c they are so sugar/HFCS laden. I dont know why these damn manufacturers dont use some sort of sugar substitute or sugar alcohol so that these foods dont whack out our diets and cause Americans to be so damn fat. They taste good but I think youd be better off just eating plain oatmeal w/ a sprinkle of Splenda or peanut butter. Just my thought

I have tried these things and they taste AWESOME. But I am sure the GI is all out of wack for people like us. Look at the ingredient label you’ll see how many different bad sugars show up. I’d switch to something like a natures valley granola bar or something. Still has sugar though with less calories. It should kill the sweet tooth with less GI shock.
