masch–that postcard would sell out. lovely !
Masch that pic is going on my wall of stalker pervness.
That’s right, my refridgerator. Right between DebraD and Bre.
I’ve got fitness models on there too but its you girls, you real cchicks that kick ass with me along for the ride… gawd I love ya and I love ya sweetsweet bums.
A lot of women strive for the waif look. And some men appreciate that look. To be honest, I used to have it and could have it again if I watched my diet and laid off the weights. But I don’t care for that look. And I’m addicted to the rush and confidence that being strong and muscular gives me.

=D
You mean you don’t have a pic of Hallowed/Wonderwoman on there too? You should!
you do look awesome masch!! you are totally right about coming to appreciate upper body strength when you can’t properly use your legs. it took me a good couple months of determined effort every day to be able to transfer myself in and out of my wheelchair - and it still wasn’t pretty. i really did swiftly develop upper body strength when i was in a wheelchair then on crutches and in a way i guess that really was the start of my appreciation for what bodies could do. i certainly wasn’t capable of pulling myself out of a boat like you are, though. and yeah, things pretty much sucked because of it. i was terrified of falling out of my chair unattended since i would have been physically incapable of getting myself back in.
so glad to hear you have caught the competition bug, debra! i had been wondering about how you were getting along and hoped you would stop by to update us all. and now for the most important question… what singlet did you get?? i would love to see pics of you competing if you feel comfortable sharing. you are welcome to post them in my log
and of course i am very curious about your lift numbers now… c’mon, gotta give me something to aspire to ![]()
i’ve been trying to get one of my friends into coming to the gym with me for a while now. she said ‘even if i train like you i won’t look like you, i’m a different shape’. i was like ‘of course you won’t look like me - you will look like you!’ i am fairly surprised that people often aspire to look like other people rather than the best version of themselves that is possible. i’ve been watching the track and field championships (or whatever) on tv… amazing to me what different bodytypes seem found in different events… guess i should have been a high jumper or triple jumper or something… though probably i’m a bit too short lolz. but each and every one of those people was close to the top of their physical form. perfect in their own way. i’m even (though admittedly slowly) coming to have immense respect for superheavyweight people… guess i better start since if i ever do get particularly good at weightlifting (which i don’t think i’m capable of due to injury) that is going to be required in order for me to fill out my levers…
what you can do…
i guess i find an overfocus on appearance (particularly the high maintenence kind with lots of make-up and obvious effort required for the look) to be… um… kind of unattractive. overly vain. you can’t be spontaneous and carefree with that kind of look to maintain. i know that is probably just me… only i don’t think it is. i think a lot of guys really appreciate girls who have the ability to be truly independent. i see a lot of guys trying to encourage high maintenence weak types to be a little more independent but they don’t seem to get it… i don’t know. maybe it is about growing up. making the move to independence. not sure.

My sister and I are both runners. We weigh within 5lbs of each other and are very close to the same height. She is 6 years younger than me. She is incredibly athletically talented (more than me) and competitive (also more than me). But, she won’t lift because she doesn’t want to get “too big.” And by “too big” she means look like me or Jessica Biel–that pic of her in a white bikini.
Because I am her older sister, and I love her, I have done my best to try to convince her to strength train in a meaningful way. I have kicked her ass in every race from the 5k to the half marathon. She used to be a better runner than me. But even though she is athletic, and even though she wants to be competitive, she sees the world like you do Fleizig.
I do my best to lift the heaviest shit that I can. This is a picture of the two of us.

It isn’t “size” that she really fears; it’s muscularity that she doesn’t like. She wants to look small and soft and weak.
You are in college. You aren’t getting fat because you are getting old. It’s probably the alcohol. If you want to look like you did in HS. Eat and drink like you did there and do your cardio.

You fill out your dress better in that pic. She does look soft and weak…and it takes away from the dress, IMO. I would rather look like you.
Mascherano- I want to know who the lucky bastard is who keeps catching you at these mind-blowing angles. When he/she goes, I’d like you to know I’m willing to relocate ![]()
DebraD- I completely agree with what you wrote about appreciating your body due to sport. I’m probably going to steal that and pass it on to every woman I know. Thanks.
Fleizig took all of your advice to heart, so I must thank you all for your amazingly helpful posts. Nadia, she looked at your picture and said she had to think about it for a minute before she could figure out which one was you and who was your sister. I think you really sealed the deal for her - I now made a beginning weight program for her!
Also I have a small blog that I keep for clients / friends / family about how fitness is portrayed in the media. I made my newest post inspired about 50% by the last few pages and used a lot of information from you guys so I figured I’d share it with you.
Nadia - I used your picture in my post; if you don’t want it there just let me know and I’ll take it down.
Thanks for being a wonderful community that helps to promote real fitness for women. The industry certainly needs more ladies like you.

Solarisol: I probably shouldn’t have posted a picture of my sister here. And I would appreciate it if you would take it down from your blog. But, images are powerful and are often easier than words to use to make a point. My sister doesn’t want to lift because she is afraid of getting too big. And she looks at me and thinks that I am too big. The irony is that although we weigh more or less the same, I am actually smaller than her.
I am this sister.
Greeneyes: I couldn’t tell from your post if you guessed right or not. My sister has a rack like a porn star… I can’t compete with that.
Removed and done!
I certainly couldn’t tell the dimensions of your sister’s rack from that picture. The lighting I guess.
Rack?
What’s that?

For squatting, dummy. Sheesh.

Oh yeah. Right. For squatting. Must be why I’m such a good squatter. I have a great rack.

From jason- boobs are fun to look at… but they’re just boobs.
now, an ass and legs, GODDAMN! there’s a lifetime of fun, there.
Fat men have boobs too. They’re not so fun to look at.
Especially when they’re bigger than mine.
