I’m heading down to school in the next couple of weeks, and it’s perfect because my current stock of supplements are about to run out and now it’s time to restock. I’ve used Surge before and really enjoyed it, so I’m going to get that again but I’m also going to go with Low-Carb Metabolic Drive for my whey protein.
Here’s my questions:
1.) So I know Surge is a proper recovery drink (hydro whey and fast acting carbs) and is usually taken during, then finished at the end of a workout. My question is, it only contains about 30g of protein if I remember correctly, is that enough or am I better of throwing a scoop of whey in there after the workout?
2.) I found a nice blender at my parents that they are willing to let me have, so now I really want to make some awesome shakes. I’m planning on using the Metabolic Drive as my whey source in them. I’m switching over to muscle building phase, and Lord knows I have a hard time getting my calories, so what are some good ways to make excellent tasting, healthy weight gainers? I plan on throwing in a lot of good fruits (mostly strawberries, raspberries and blueberries), the Metabolic Drive and some crushed ice.
I’m somewhat sensitive to carbs, so should would it be wise to include oatmeal in this shake even though it’s an hour after my Surge? I want it really thick, what are some good ways to make this possible? I was thinking of adding peanut butter, but doesn’t it slow down the absorption of protein? Basically, an hour after workout do I still have time to take advantage spiking myself to shuttle protein, or should I go with slower digesting protein and no oats?
3.) I also want to mention that on the diet plan I have mapped out I’m going to to be getting all of my carbs at breakfast (first meal), when I go lift 2 hours later (Surge during and directly after) and then in this nice shake in about 1 - 1.5 hours after my Surge. Even after everything I posted in the second question, am I just better off not even making this shake and just going for a solid meal an hour after?
Damn, this is making me want to make a tasty protein shake RIGHT NOW.
