PWO Sleep

No matter what I do when I consume a high carb PWO shake , I fall asleep within 30 minutes. I feel like I go into a coma and leave the planet.

what else can I do to combat this? Ive tried adding d pintol, and alpha lipoic acid, only sped up the process.

does this happen to anyone else?

Eat again, rather than succumbing to the desire to sleep.

I learned a while back that insulin is generally associated with feeling tired and sluggish. I guess this is ‘food coma.’

Perhaps have a few sips of spike shooter with your pwo drink.

Adding something to blunt the insulin (fats or fiber) is counterproductive to what you want, anyway, so I cant really think of anything other than to add some sort of stimulant to stay awake.

I feel the same way. I always feel very sleepy after my PWO shake. I think its a mix of the hard work-out, and the high-carb shake.

It is a well known fact, that when our body is “full” of food, we get more relaxed/tired!

I suppose that sucks if you have to drive a bus after working out. But if you don’t, then maybe taking a nap isn’t such a bad thing.

i find that Spike gives me an enourmous insulin response with a pwo (yohmbine) and then I feel like I drank a cup of coffee with a sleeping pill. up and down.

Sounds like you may have a sluggish metabolism. Why dont you NOT drink a PWO shake? Eat a bowl of brown rice instead and see what happens.

Yeah, because that would be intelligent.

Nothing wrong with a brief nap after training. I do it sometimes, and it greatly helps me.

Likewise…I’m doing Waterbury’s ABBH…today was 10x3 on deads/abs/calfs. After my Surge PWO, I crashed for about a nice 45 min nap. This seems to be a normal routine on my workout days…15-45 mins of siesta time.

Thank God I work in a home office environment. If I had to do this in a “real” office routine I don’t know how I would make it through the day.

If at all possible, enjoy taking a nap at this time.

Some of the best progress I’ve ever made was when I had the luxury of taking an afternoon nap on a regular basis.
