Basically, you want fast absorbing protein (whey) and simple carbs (maltodextrin, D-glucose). It’s also a good time to ingest your creatine since the sugars will help tranport it into the muscles.
Check out the ingredients in Surge, that’s what it’s designed for. Tastes good too.
I second Kruiser. Quick proteins and high GI carbs are key.

I find waxy maize much easier to drink than dextrose, (chalky rather than sickening).
I’m going low carb right now, so I just mix my BCAAs with some chocolate whey and a packet of Nestea’s knockoff of Crystal Light (1 extra carb).
Chocolate Surge is my favorite, but I tend to rotate all the other flavors in on occasion for variety.
On days I’m not taking Surge, my PWO concoction is:
24-36g whey
50g serving of Glycocarb (malto and ALA)
15g BCAA
5g Creatine
It tastes god darn awful… but it does the trick.
I’ve only tried Surge’s raspberry, rootbeer, and original so far. I like the raspberry. I hated the rootbeer.
