Yup first two exercises heavy as shit, next three holding, squeezing and pumping the muscles full of blood.
Nah bro that’s me in my avi.

Idk, I think if it’s taken too far people can forget they should go heavy with back at least some of the time. I haven’t spent much time focusing on the squeeze/contraction of my back any more than the rest of my muscles and it’s probably my best body part. Kroc rows and tons of videos showing loose form heaving tons of weight support it’s importance and generally in the pro’s videos I see some fairly loose-really loose form. Not that I think the squeezing/contracting isn’t valuable, I just think the mentality can be taken too far. [/quote]
I kind of agree in the sense that I do my yates rows with decent form but no held contraction (this whole MMC movement stopped me from using tons of hip drive and momementum)… I feel this a ton in the lats as it is and whilst I can both feel it in my lats and the weights/reps are going up, I don’t feel I’m going to “loose out” but not holding the contraction. When I stall for awhile thats the sort of thing I want to include and for sure I like to end with a movement such as DB pullovers that really finishes me off pump wise.
If I delt like I was arm-dominant or just couldn’t get a pump in my lats I would for sure train with pre-exhaust, as it is I will wait till the weights stop going up. Part of my reasoning is I find it relatively easy to increase back lifts compared to pressing and should have plenty of time to focus on mmc whilst still using decent weights. The same definitely couldn’t be said for my chest/shoulders for example
