Pulled Lower Back

Hey everyone. I started taking judo two weeks ago and I believe it has caused me to have a muscle spasm in my lower back or tightened it up beyond all belief. We usually stretch for half an hour before hand, and I think what finally did me in was holding one of them for to long.

The stretch involves sitting down, roling backward, and while keeping your head looking up have your feet touch behind you.

Anyways, my left-lower back is killing me, and I was just wondering if anyone had experienced something similar? It hurts to bend to the right, and to lift anything that doesn’t support the back.

You don’t want excessive range of motion in your back going either way. I had this problem and I dropped anything where I stretching my lower back and it actually helped a lot. You may have tight hip flexors as well or weak abs, or even both. Try reading Neanderthal No More by Eric Cressey and Mike Robertson to see if you have any postural issues. Hope it gets better, I know how frustrating it can be.

hey thanks man. I had gone to my campus’ health services and they told me that it was a muscle spasm, and gave me some muscle relaxers for it. but, they dont do jack, so I’ll take a look at that article. Anyone know how to stretch that area lightly?

When I read of this article I thought of this post. I think this article could help everyone. I read my reply and I meant you should not have excessive mobility in the lumbar spine area, just to clear that up.

that is perfect! thank you so much bro! i hope everybody reads that at least once
