Pull Up Bar or Training Rings?

Hi.

I was interested in getting a pull up bar. I mostly just train in my basement. I wasn’t looking for one to mount on the wall, or the ceiling of my basement. I have this I Beam in my basement that I was doing chin ups, and pull ups on. I can only get my fingers on the beam though hahahah.

I was looking for a pull up bar that I could wrap around the beam, and was wanting to know if anybody knew of something like that.

I have found something that might be able to work. Here is the link www.ringtraining.com/. The thing is, would it be better to get a pull up bar, or the training rings??

hmm…in my opinion, the training rings are going to much harder obviously, and they are going to hit more stabilizer muscles than doing a normal pull up…if ur looking for pure strength, than i would find a way to get a pull up bar down there!

best bet is this:

Right now I am just building up my strength. I was looking at a couple of things that might work, but was just checking to see if anybody had some other recommendations also.

I was looking at this one also, and was about to post about it. I was really thinking about getting this one. Thanks for the recommendation.

The rings might not be a bad idea, I’ve used them for sometime in our university gym and actually find them easier then normal pullups or chins.

I would say training rings.
Regardless of if it’s pure strength or not (i mean you still have to pull/push yourself up right?) the difficulty of the training rings will hit stabilizer muscles as well. If you can do a proper pull up on ring bars, you can do it on a bar but not always vice versa.

i was thinking of getting a chinning bar/dip combo for my home gym- if there is such a thing, any suggestions?

I should probably get some rings too. Maybe the rings could even replace the other stuff for pullups and dips, but I’m not sure if my relative strength is high enough to utilize them efficiently. I do wanna start learning lever progressions and that type of thing
