Good pull beans. I’m interested in everyone else’s approach. Mine’s probably pretty nonoptimal, but I’m not that smart.

x2 on the not that smart part, lol. I got to 500lbs on dumb luck and hard headedness.

So, my 1rm is the same, even though my 3, 5, & 5+rep maxes are higher. I’m not sure if that is in part because I’ve been anticipating tonight for like 3 days and was so excited I amped myself out of a better pull (failed 520 twice after this pull), or if the rep work really doesn’t help my limit strength on deads… Who the fuck knows.

Current plan:

So I’m going to try and pull twice a week, and pair them with Front Squats at least once a week. I’m going to pervert the shit out of 5/3/1, like I have been except change the loading pattern. So I’ll go like this
5’s day - Monday
3’s day - Thursday
3’s day - Monday
5’s day - Thursday
531 day - Monday
avoid pulling for 7 days & start over

Right now my “leg day” would look like
front squat
deads
extension
reverse hyper
ghr

I’ll probably pair my second pull day with back, and mix in chains and maybe even bands as I go along as I feel like it. Chains are fucking awesome BTW. Fucking awesome.

I’m going to have to eat like a motherfucker to not run myself into the ground with this much pulling, but I am about 75% sure I’m not going on the diet I was considering, but even if I do diet, I’ll just drive myself into the ground under eating, lol

I’m told this is where the action is at:

1RM about 6 weeks ago (8/31/2011) at 475:

Bodyweight is just under 195. Either next week or the following I’ll be going for 495 depending on how sore I am from the day before.

No training today, but i will be in the gym on sunday to do legs and deads. If i feel good i will probably do about 60-70% of my max for singles. If not it will be alot rehab type stuff for my piriformis. If i feel good, next week i will consider the coan-phillippi routine. I’ve been wanting to give it go for awhile now, but i’ve been focusing on bringing up my squat.

On a side note i ate a 5-guys burger in 3minutes 47secs. I know it’s slow, but thought it would be interesting to mention.

IN!!! Because I would like to hit a 600 pull before I turn 20 in February, the pressure from this could help.

Yo beansy hit me up, the most ive pulled raw is 560 but put me at 550 since i just changed my form up this week. Ill take a vid of it on my next pull day which is monday.

I’m far off but get me in there, the most I’ve pulled raw is 425.

Beans, my DL went from 505 to 555 in about 6 weeks when I starting pulling singles every week…sounds like you might be like me. Reps never did a damn thing for my 1RM. I just did a few weeks of rack pulls to give my knee a rest, so we’ll see if that helped my DL on Thursday when I go from the floor again.

Yeah, based on how I got to where I am in the first place, I think you are right, lol.

I’m gonna fuck around with the reps a bit more, mainly so I can use the chains, and see what happens.

Dude, in the “400lbs deadlift” thread in GAL, ink and a couple others were talking about doing this type thread, but a race to 500.

I think at your point of progress, and NYNY to a degree, would benefit more from that race at this point, and use it as a stepping stone to get to six.

I can add you in, or bust Ink’s balls into actually starting the race if need be, but just think about it and let me know. It isn’t about shooting for the stars or being a pussy, it is about moving down the path of progress. When you hit 500, and I’m sure you will, you should be fucking excited, and I feel like this race might take that away from you if you’re too focused on 600. Ya know?

Max: 445 conventional, I think I’m stronger in an Ed Coan looking semi-sumo stance (just started DLing Jan 2011, while dieting, haven’t really pushed it)

Current Strategy: Train deads once every 1 or 1.5 weeks, 4 session cycle of rack pulls below knees (I’m very weak from this position) and speed deads, then a 4 session cycle of pulls from the floor and speed deads, and an 8 week peaking cycle

So, I have not pulled from the floor in quite a while. Here is a deficit pull for a single that I did about 3 1/2 weeks ago. If its ok with the powers that be in this contest, I’ll claim 550 as my starting pull. Video below:
